Senior Manager, Academy

This role will assist the Director of Community Enablement (CE) to provide leadership to the Dementia Singapore Academy, to ensure that education, training, research activities are in line with the overall strategic direction of Dementia Singapore (DSG).


He/she is expected to stay abreast of the local and global dementia care landscape and work closely with the Director of CE to engage strategic partners to deliver evidence-based, up-to-date educational materials, training courses and consultancy services to build capability and capacity in the dementia care sector. He/she will provide clinical guidance for research-related activities and ensures that research and evaluation studies involving DSG clients, carers, staff, and volunteers adhere to research governance.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the Academy team by providing strategic direction for the development of training programmes and consultancy services for the Community Care sector.
  • Manage the operational budget for the Academy and provide oversight ‘to the business operations of the Academy to ensure the smooth implementation of strategic plans and operational efficiency.
  • Engage relevant stakeholders, curriculum developers, trainers and subject matter experts to guide the development of dementia care training programmes and consultancy services which are person-centred, evidence-based, and relevant to the needs of learners.
  • Lead the development of DementiaHub.SG in partnership with the Agency of Integrated Care and other key stakeholders; and identifies relevant educational resources to be developed in collaboration with subject matter experts to build a Dementia Friendly Singapore.
  • Collaborate with the Care Services - Service Development team to evaluate the feasibility of research and evaluation studies to be conducted within DSG.
  • Lead research studies in collaboration with Institutes of Higher Learning, Research Institutes, and other external agencies.
  • Supervise the Research Executive who provides secretariat support for the DSG Ethics Review Panel, which reviews new research and/ or evaluation studies involving DSG clients, carers, staff and volunteers.
  • Provide training or consultancy services in the Head’s areas of professional expertise as a dementia practitioner, where relevant.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification in allied health, social work, nursing, gerontology, dementia studies, or other health related fields.
  • Certification in learning design, assessment development or workplace learning preferred.
  • At least 8-10 years of work experience working with persons living with dementia and their carers in the community care sector.
  • Competent in training delivery, curriculum design and workplace learning approaches.
  • Familiar with research design, research ethics and governance, and programme evaluation approaches.
  • Experience in inter-agency collaborations, especially in the areas of eldercare, mental health or dementia.
  • Experience providing training and consultancy services, and project management preferred.
