We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly qualified and committed Assistant Principal (IBDP Coordinator), with an outstanding track record of success from August 2024. The successful applicant will be the school's IBDP Coordinator and oversee all aspects of the programme. As a member of the Senior School Management Team, the post holder will also line manage allocated Heads of Department, and will be an integral part of the school's academic monitoring processes. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading international school as it enters an exciting new phase of development. We have just started our fourth year of operation, and enrollment is already approaching 1300 students.


As an Assistant Principal (IBDP Coordinator):

  1. Fostering an environment of reflective practice and development, leading by example in all aspects of personal and professional development
  2. Developing and maintaining a culture of high expectations for oneself and others
  3. Keeping abreast of developments in educational research and best practice, relevant to the specific responsibilities of the role, and advising the Academic Leadership Team of their relevance and potential impact on the school
  4. Playing an active part in the collaborative working of the Academic Leadership Team, and contributing to the process of strategic academic planning
  5. Leading by example as a teacher, leader and manager, achieving high standards of pupil achievement and motivation through excellent teaching
  6. Managing a group of Heads of Department, as directed by the VP (Academic), and taking responsibility for Academic Monitoring in the relevant subject areas
  7. Ensuring that the Department Development Plans for those departments line managed are fit for purpose, aligned with the school’s overall development priorities, implemented effectively and evaluated regularly
  8. Supporting the day-to-day running of the Senior School, as a member of the Senior School Management Team
  9. Supporting the development and maintenance of relevant school policies and procedures
  10. Contributing to the school’s marketing and admissions activity as and when required, including attendance at relevant events
  11. Completing supervisory duties, as required by senior staff, and directed through published rotas
  12. Teaching a designated subject specialism and in other areas as agreed from time to time, with a teaching load commensurate to the responsibilities of the role
  13. Contributing to the staff recruitment and selection process as required
  14. Attending school functions as appropriate
  15. Providing reports to the Vice Principal (Academic) and Principal as and when required
  16. Contributing fully to, and leading some aspects of, the school’s academic enrichment programme

As the IBDP Coordinator:

  1. Carrying out the necessary tasks outlined in the IBO’s list of coordinator’s responsibilities, including registration of students, payment of invoices, monitoring of deadlines, dispatch of necessary documentation and organisation of examination sessions
  2. Embedding and promoting the IB Learner Profile throughout the school community with the MYP Coordinator
  3. Developing and implementing a plan for the vertical articulation of ATL skills across all years of the programme and supporting teachers in developing teaching strategies for ATL skills with the MYP Coordinator
  4. Managing the process of Curriculum review and development for each of the IBDP subjects
  5. Working with Heads of Department and other staff to ensure that planning, resourcing and delivery of the IBDP is in keeping with the philosophy and expectations of the IB and of NLCS (Singapore)
  6. Developing academic partnerships for IBDP students, including partnerships with NLCS (UK) and other schools in the NLCS family
  7. Providing overall pedagogical leadership of the IBDP to ensure excellent learning and teaching within the programme
  8. Taking responsibility for the leadership, organisation and management of all aspects of the IBDP Core
  9. Taking responsibility for assessment frameworks and procedures within the IBDP
  10. Overseeing the administration and distribution of IBDP examination results and remarks to students, Heads of Department and Senior Team
  11. Carrying out annual analysis of both mock and actual IBDP exam results, supporting the VP (Academic) in developing any resultant development strategies
  12. Preparing and efficiently managing annual budgets for the IBDP
  13. Undertaking a strategic review of the IBDP, its performance and its contribution to the aims and educational philosophy of the School, and undertaking any reviews as required by the IB to maintain authorisation
  14. Monitoring and tracking students’ progress within the IBDP and coordinating interventions when necessary
  15. Developing and presenting information presentations and events for current and prospective IBDP students and parents
  16. Working with the Head of Libraries to ensure that the Senior School Library is stocked with appropriate fiction/non-fiction/language collections of books and other resources for DP students and professional reading for DP teachers
  17. Ensuring that IBDP teaching staff have access to relevant professional development programmes to support high-quality IBDP provision by identifying and organising training in line with their levels of experience and IBO requirements
  18. Managing the IBDP Calendar, including negotiation of IA deadlines, Core deadlines and other important dates for Sixth Form students
  19. Taking responsibility for ensuring a smooth transition to the IBDP (with the MYP Coordinator)
  20. Managing the IBDP options process and ensuring that students make appropriate choices in relation to their interests, passions and ambitions
  21. Ensuring that appropriate special assessment accommodations are put in place for students in need of them
  22. Overseeing the production of the IBDP Handbook for students and parents

Pastoral Care:

  1. Supporting the strong pastoral emphasis within NLCS (Singapore)
  2. Liaising with and supporting the Heads of School and VP (Pastoral) in all matters pertaining to pastoral well-being, responsibility and strategy
  3. Working alongside the Heads of School to contribute to pastoral and co-curricular activities that broaden students’ experiences and enhance the general life of the school
  4. Liaising with relevant colleagues and parents with regard to the monitoring, support, review and well-being of tutees
  5. Following the school’s policies and procedures with regard to pastoral provision


Safeguarding

  1. Abide by the School safeguarding policy and keep abreast of any changes
