Senior Leadership General Responsibilities
- Senior Leaders have joint responsibility for all aspects of the school relating to the education and development of the students; each has a focus of responsibility, but all contribute to the whole and support the work of others. The Vice Principal is responsible to the Principal
- Create and foster an environment of reflective practice and development, leading by example in all aspects of personal and professional development.
- Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and others.
- Lead by example as a teacher and as a leader and manager, achieving high standards of pupil achievement and motivation through excellent teaching.
- To lead teams and individuals in line with specific areas of responsibility
- Support the development and maintenance of school policies and practices to ensure consistent application, as detailed in the school policy library.
- Have a teaching commitment in line with Vice Principal status.
- Sustain effective, positive relationships with staff, students, parents, Governors and the local community.
- To contribute to the whole school development plan as and when required
- Relevant reports to Governors/Principal
- To contribute to the admissions and marketing events as and when required
- To complete all supervisory duties, as required by Senior Team members, and directed through published rotas
- To ensure safeguarding and child protection policies and practices across the school are in line with best practice and ensure all students safeguarding needs are met.
- To maintain an open dialogue between the school, students and their parents on all educational matters.
- Attend relevant school events and activities.
- Manage budget(s) in line with areas of responsibility.
- Production of key Senior School publications as detailed in the ST Portfolio document
- Organisation of key Senior School events as detailed in the ST Portfolio document
Safeguarding
- To act as the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead, thereby taking responsibility for all aspects of the school’s Safeguarding policies and procedures.
- To be committed to the safeguarding of students across the school
- To respond in a timely and effective manner to concerns raised regarding the safety and wellbeing of students, taking urgent action when a child is at risk of immediate harm.
- To remain informed of current legislation, statutory and other guidance with regards to safeguarding, and child protection, including an in-depth knowledge of regulatory issues in Singapore
- To establish and maintain positive working relationships with relevant statutory, voluntary and community agencies, and to maintain an up-to-date mapping of agencies in Singapore
- To work with the HR Department to ensure that the school’s Single Central Register is maintained
- To lead safeguarding audits of current provision, and take responsibility for subsequent action plans and developments
- To complete timely and detailed referrals to CPS and other agencies to request support for children and families. To be tenacious in the follow-up of these referrals, escalating as required
- To attend or provide information for all meetings pertaining to matters of safeguarding, ensuring that the school’s view is accurately represented and recorded
- To provide, collate and monitor regular, accurate and timely data on safeguarding, as directed by the Principal
- To ensure that the school is compliant with safer recruitment procedures for new staff members and that their induction includes a specific focus on safeguarding
- Where appropriate, provide support in investigations, liaising with relevant agencies and reporting to appropriate authorities
- Quality assure the recording, storing and codifying of safeguarding incidents in the school to maintain consistent practice across the school.
- To provide advice and training to staff, at least annually, and signpost to best practice guidance
- To act in accordance with school policies at all times, ensuring a high standard of professionalism which demonstrates the school’s expected standards
- To manage the school’s safeguarding training strategy, including keeping a detailed log of all training data
Inclusion
- Line management of the Head of Individual Needs and, thereby, the school’s Emotional Guidance Counselling and Learning Support provision, including implementation and development of all related intervention and support mechanisms
- Oversight and leadership of the school’s Individual Needs strategy
- Develop, deliver and evaluate an effective, robust and sustainable strategy to improve student outcomes and experiences, particularly in relation to those who are most vulnerable. This will include working in collaboration with all senior leaders and pastoral staff to gather intelligence, identify barriers and ensure schools and external partners implement appropriate strategies and interventions to ensure that these students can achieve.
- To ensure students with multiple vulnerabilities have the outstanding provision to ensure their needs are met, and their progress and outcomes are the very best they can be.
- To work closely with colleagues to identify the types of provision we need to ensure we meet the needs of all our students and improve their outcomes.
- Engage with research, professional bodies, sources of excellence and the wider practitioner community to continually improve and enhance provision for the most vulnerable children and young people in the school.
- Champion best practices and inspire all practitioners to enable every child and young person to achieve their potential.
- To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of transitions, ensuring those at risk are identified and supported to achieve the best outcomes.
- Leadership on EDI strategies and provision.
- Advising the Principal on policies and strategies to support EDI development
- Embed EDI principles into the school culture.
- Oversee all school and community events that are focused on diversity and internationalism.
- Be the link teacher for the Student Internationalism, Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador and support them in all aspects of their role
- To engage and support parents of vulnerable students, including behaviour and family support.
- To be responsible for the development, monitoring and impact of appropriate assessments and interventions for vulnerable children.
- To establish high-quality reporting mechanisms for parents to ensure they can support their children outside of school.
- To provide leadership and expert professional advice in all aspects of inclusion, developing and implementing effective strategies, policies and procedures that reflect best practice, including providing behaviour support.
- To work with leaders to ensure the curriculum offered is appropriate for those most at risk.
- To build and develop robust links with external agencies, as required.
School Trips and Visits
- Oversee the school’s trips and visits programme, ensuring our framework provides clear guidelines to trip leaders and the wider community
- Line manage the trips coordinator
- To liaise with trip leaders to ensure cost effective and compliant running of school trips across both Junior and Senior Schools
- To liaise with the finance team to ensure that payments are monitored, and invoices are paid in a timely fashion once payments from students are received.
- To set and monitor strict safety standards on all trips, including the production, review, approval and implementation of risk assessment processes.
Compliance
- Ensure that the School meets its compliance obligations in all areas of activity including, but not limited to:
