Research Assistant/Research Associate (Cell and molecular biology)

A Research Assistant/Research Associate position is currently available in the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support research work on the application of bioassays in environmental risk assessment and quality monitoring (environmental sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction, reagent preparation, biochemical assays, cell-based assays etc.)
  • Validate methods and conduct assays on emerging contaminants and environmental samples
  • Document, analyze and manage the data
  • Assist on the preparation of research reports, presentations, and manuscripts
  • Prepare SOP and risk assessment
  • Support existing research personnel in the same projects
  • Assist in daily operational, administrative, and logistics duties related to the research activities

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology etc with more than 1-year work experience in laboratory setting or research lab
  • Interested candidates holding master degree with no working experience may also apply
  • Knowledge and experience on operation, sample preparation, data analysis and essential method optimization for cell assays (cell culture and various cell-based assays) is a must
  • Knowledge and experience on operation, sample preparation, data analysis and essential method optimization for molecular assays (qPCR, ELISA, reporter assays, fluorescent staining etc ) is highly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in fluorescent microscopy and imaging-based assays preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental sample preparation and assay development is a plus
  • Experience in in vivo assays is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience on advanced biochemical methods such as MS-based methods is a plus
  • Highly motivated person who is able to work independently.
