We currently have an opening for a Data Center (DC) Operations role, to support Data Center operations for our client in Singapore which is a top global investment bank.

Responsibilities:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Data Center Operations with hands-on experience and knowledge in the operation and management of Data Center facilities.
  • Reports to the Data Center Operations Lead.
  • Good understanding of Mechanical & Electrical infrastructure including rack space, power and cooling systems.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with structured cabling design and implementations.
  • Responsible for Data Center remote operation support including liaising with onsite Technicians and/or colocation vendors for all operations tasks.
  • Review server room physical access request and to approve/reject request.
  • Review disk reports submitted by vendors against the actual disk break-fix event.
  • Liaise with approved disposal vendor for disk destruction and/or waste collection.
  • Review the current rack space, power, cooling, patch panel capacity and approve recommended rack space for equipment placement.
  • Responsible for equipment movement in collaboration with equipment owner.
  • Responsible for equipment decommissioning of unused equipment in collaboration with equipment owner.
  • Manage purchases including obtaining and reviewing quotations, obtain approval for purchases and submission of purchase requests and following up to ensure timely delivery and installation.
  • Update the asset inventory in System of Records after equipment placement, decommissioning or movement.
  • Manage regular asset inventory sighting.
  • Ensure the accuracy of System of Records for asset inventory.
  • Participate in Change Management including reviewing, approving/rejecting Change Requests for Data Center Operations related work, and coordinating with assignees and closure of completed change requests.
  • Participate in Incident Management including raising Incident Tickets for Data Center Operations related incidents, performs troubleshooting and analysis, recommending and implements remediation / preventive actions and closure of incident tickets.
  • Ensure timely updates and closure to all change requests, incident tickets, work orders and service requests.
  • Gather information for audits and formulate responses for DC Ops Leads review and approval.
  • Oversee M&E upgrade, power maintenance, loss of utilities and/or loss of water tests within Data Center.

Regular reporting:

  • Reconciliation of actual events to approved requests (e.g. physical access to Data Center, Rack Keys Utilization, Visitor Logs)
  • Capacity Utilization of Data Center including rack, power and patch panels.
  • Review of Third-Party Colocation Vendor submitted reports for accuracy.
  • Statistics for Data Center Activities:
  1. Equipment Decommissioning Requests and Status
  2. Equipment Movement Requests and Status
  3. Equipment Placement Requests and Status

Others:

  • Good communication skills, able to communicate clearly, both verbally and written.
  • Experience working in regional and global support roles.
  • Manage resources locally and remotely for APAC Data Center Operations, including task assignment and shift scheduling.
