As an Assistant Manager / Manager (Conservatory Operations), you will be responsible for the husbandry and maintenance of the plants and displays within the Conservatories. You will be expected to plan and manage projects, provide advice and raise horticultural standards. Your knowledge of glasshouse operations will lead to innovations in pest and disease management, and provide for the healthy long-term sustainability for Conservatory plants in a public setting. You will be required to provide expertise on the latest developments in the horticulture industry, particularly in sourcing for novel plant introductions to add to the diversity of plants that can be used to further enhance our exhibits and landscapes, and add interest to our local gardening scene. You will be expected to manage and contribute to programs and activities in the Gardens as well as serve the Gardens goal of being an attraction for all to own, enjoy and cherish.
Requirements:
- Degree in any discipline, preferably with 2 years’ of relevant working experience in a relevant field of work
- Possess a keen and passionate interest in plants and gardening with a focus on exceeding visitor expectations
- Assist in coming out with the concept art for floral displays and other installations in the conservatories
- Ability to work out innovative solutions to challenges which may arise
- Service-oriented team player who is prepared to be hands-on
- Experience in horticulture, plants and flowers would be an advantage
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to build relationships and cultivate collaborations and partnerships
- Good knowledge of various computer software and applications including Microsoft Office
