Role Summary/Purpose
The Lead Engineer is the technical guarantor ofthe proper performance of design works conducted in his/her field of activity, in matter of committed design budget (man days), deadline and Quality, in line with Customer expectation, while promoting ease of installation, operationand maintenance ofthe system.
He/she plans basic and detailed design activities, manages & oversees detailed executionprogress, coordinates delivery of required engineering documentation forprocurement,manufacturing and site erection associated to concerned activity, based on Customerspecifications and requirement, and internal standards. He/she coordinates elaboration of documents done internally or through subcontracting.
Essential Responsibilities
- Establish, based on tender and contract analysis, and project strategy, the list of documents to produce for his/her field of activity
- Evaluates with PEM or PM engineering workload and deliverables datesfor concernedpackage, and commitsto such budget in man days and in time delivery
- Ensures on-time delivery of design, including Partner documents, to stakeholders withsuitable quality
- Anticipate and mitigate delivery issues and recommend changes.
- Lead & coordinate his/her design team.
- Manage and monitor detailed execution progress and short-term plan.
- Request from PEM or PM required technical coordination meetings with partner or key suppliers if when appropriate to synchronize respective designs.
- Measure design physical progress on relevant studies and provides PEMwith relevant data for evaluation of ETTC.
- Informs PEM / PM of design issues all along project execution and propose range ofsolutionsfor decision; follow solutions agreed up to resolution
- Updates risk assessment related to engineering &applies mitigation plan when required.
- Pro-actively generate and manage opportunities.
- Analyse and ensures compliance to customer technicalrequirements.
- Support Sourcing and Procurement in the definition of the Supplier’s list according to the project Strategy
- Manage technical interface with sub suppliers & partners, prepare input data , check consistency.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Engineering Degree(HV electricalfunction of field of activity involved)
- > 10 years engineering experience in the related activity/discipline, preferably in project & EPC type environment in T&D system, Power Gen, Renewable projects (Wind Form, Solar) in position of Lead Engineer
- Knowledge of Project organisation and engineering processes related to his/herscope of activity.
- Experience of project technical management processes, preferably in a multi-disciplinary team’s context with multiple interfaces
- Several experiences inmanaging externally subcontracted design work package of varioussizes.
- English working knowledge
- Experience in technical problem solving.
- Willingness to work in various locations forshort or medium period and to travel worldwide.
- AutoCAD user
- DIgSILENT – Power factory and PSSE
- Knowledge of HV primary design for both AIS-substation and GIS substation Including:
- Single Line Diagram
- HV equipment sizing calculation and selection.
- Substation and equipment layout/Section
- Grounding system calculation and installation documents
- Lightning system calculation and installation documents
- Power cable system
- LV cable system
- Interface register with third parties.
- System study including:
- Load flow
- Short circuit
- Dynamic study
- Harmonic study
- Insulation coordination study
- RAM study o FMECA study
