We are looking for a full-time ballet instructor. The instructor’s roles include:
- Plan, prepare and teach assigned classes according to the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and/or under the directive of the Principal.
- Keep updated with developments in the RAD syllabus and teaching resources, and make relevant changes to class plans and activities.
- Prepare, coach and register students for RAD examinations including examinations groupings and scheduling.
- Present during the RAD examinations period to supervise students who are attending examinations or assisting other teachers, as assigned by the Principal/Management.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing appropriate dance pedagogy methods to create a conducive learning experience for students.
- Observe, evaluate and maintain accurate and complete records of student’s progress and development, and provide feedback on work and students’ progress to the Principal.
- Communicate regularly to students and parents regarding student’s progress where necessary.
- Attend staff/teachers and parents’ meetings, as and when necessary.
- Assist, teach, and/or conduct coaching and rehearsals during ad-hoc events/activities organized by the Academy such as school concert/rehearsals, public performance, workshops, dance competitions, and masterclasses.
- Any other duties assigned by the School Principal
- General admin tasks relating to teaching and student matters including,
- Prepare referral letters as and when required.
- Distribute or hand out notices and documents related to teaching, class or Academy activities.
- Preparation of class plan for relief teachers, scheduling mock and actual RAD examinations.
- Preparation of annual progress report for students.
- Assist Principal in planning annual school timetable.
- Maintain accurate class attendance record for every class.
Requirements
- Preferably with Diploma/Degree in Dance and/or Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) teaching qualifications for Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). Candidates with substantiate experience in teaching ballet will also be considered.
- Preferably with prior experience as a professional ballet dancer.
- Minimum two to three years of experience in teaching ballet.
- Comfortable with teaching students of all ages.
- Fluent in English.
- Motivated, passionate and reliable with strong work ethic.
