Dulwich College (Singapore) is seeking Self-Employed Instrumental Teachers for the following instruments:

  • Trumpet
  • Trombone
  • Voice
  • Drums

To teach the chosen instrument to students to bring out the best in their abilities through identifying areas for development and implementing appropriate strategies to release their full potential.

Dulwich College Instrumental Teachers are ambitious for their students’ learning and put students first in everything they do. They have the highest aspirations for their students’ achievement and development, both in music lessons and through the many extra-curricular activities on offer.

Our Instrumental Teachers actively promote the College’s Mission and Vision through their enthusiastic and full participation in College life and their supportive engagement with students, colleagues and parents.

The post holder will:

  • Plan and prepare engaging individual instrumental lessons.
  • Teach and deliver individual music sessions and activities, ensuring effective learning takes place and students make excellent progress.
  • Provide feedback and give advice on student performance and skills through effective communication with teachers and other academic staff, as well as students and parents, as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and student work and write academic reports biannually
  • Act as a role model, gaining the trust and respect of the people you work with.
  • Prepare students for performances, examinations and auditions, as appropriate, including showcases biannually
  • Work with students to use music as a means of personal and social development.
  • Recommend and support students in participating in our vibrant Music Department CCA programmes.
  • A desire to lead and support Music CCAs would be an advantage.

  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post which may be required from time to time.
  • Ensure health and safety standards and work within school safeguarding guidance.

The Successful candidate will have:

  • Music Degree (or equivalent) standard.
  • A minimum of one year’s relevant work experience.
  • Experience of working independently with little supervision;
  • Experience of working with children in an international school environment would be an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate with a range of individuals including working with young people in the age range of 5 - 18.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Have interest in the education sector.
  • Willingness to engage in delivery of extra-curricular activities.
  • A supportive and empathetic approach to students.
  • Enthusiasm, commitment and dedication.
  • Commitment to safeguarding the welfare of students.
  • The ability to inspire and motivate young people and behave as a role model.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills;
  • Excellent customer care skills, and the ability to relate well to children;
  • An understanding of musical education;
  • The ability to communicate effectively throughout the College;
  • A flexible approach to work, and the willingness to contribute to the team;
  • The ability to use own initiative to undertake required tasks.
