Associate Product Development Scientist (1 year contract)

The role will lead Pringles Flavors Kellogg Integrated Margin Management (KIMM)/Value Stream Mapping (VSM) initiatives for the snacks BU, improving product quality, process, margins, and productivity. Provide technical support for existing and new factory/production line. The incumbent has a major impact on the company as a technical resource to various functions within the business in particular Supply Chain and Finance and help fuel growth via KIMM/VSM projects. This is a regional role supporting the Pringles brand across the AMEA region.


HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING


a. Fuel business growth

  • Lead LIMM/VSM projects for the Snacks BU, improving product quality, process, margins and productivity.
  • Margin management covers aspects such as Technical & Financial feasibility and operational stability. Understands state of the business and leverages knowledge to optimize plant process time/costs and the use of seasoning, reduce and minimize seasoning waste and implement learning into seasoning design and scale up including recyclability. Anticipates obstacles affecting other business functions.
  • Drive improvement in food testing methodology translating lab risk recyclability assessment prior to commercialization in plant.
  • Provide technical support for commissioning, qualifying and validating new or improved processes, production lines and factories.
  • Support NPD Consumer Research sample Food Prep and for AMEA region, coordinating and liaise with the commercial team, ensuring food reach the market/agency timely.

b. Leadership

  • Demonstrates personal capabilities as a Technical Lead, Planner, Coordinator, Communicator and Technical Expert in leading successful VSM projects.

c. Innovation / Creativity

  • Possesses an innovative mindset in discovery, evaluation and application of new technologies in seasoning usage process, research and development, and have a significant impact on existing and new products, improved products and increased efficiency on flavor application processes (lab and plant).

d. Technical expertise

  • Provides technical direction as a Seasoning (SME) translating risk assessment lab scale to plant, minimizing the need for Trials, helping the business to increase plant capacity.
  • Provide support to Supply Chain (Production and Operation team) on seasoning related plant troubleshooting post VSM project implementation as required.
  • Provide support to Plant QA and Planner as the technical SME for seasoning related matters (E.g. shelf life extension which leads to reduction of HRI)
  • Work with supplier, Product Developer, Process Lead and Sensory team to enable seasoning waste reduction (e.g. recyclability) of newly upscaled new Pringles flavors.

e. Growth competencies

  • To be success, the incumbent needs to adopt an owner’s mindset with high level accountability and drive for results, coupled with nimble learning and agility.

YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

  • Degree in Food Science or Engineering. At least 3-4 years experience in food R&D.
  • Experience in snacks seasoning development and scale up, large scale food production is desirable.
  • Proven track record in communication, diplomacy in building strong relationships with peers, cross functional teams, collaboration, teamwork, prioritization and project management will be neneficial in the effective executive of KIMM/VSM projects.
  • Excellent understanding of R&D and operations and be able to function effectively as a Technical Lead, Planner, Coordinator, Communicator, and Technical Expert.
  • No/minimal dietary restrictions.
