Research Engineer II (Stress Engineering)

The eVTOL Research and Innovation Centre at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is looking for a Research Engineer II in the area of Stress Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct structural analysis and assess the strength and durability of aircraft components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods to model and simulate structural behaviour under various loading conditions.
  • Collaborate with the aircraft design team to provide input on structural considerations during the design phase.
  • Develop, validate, and execute FEM models to analyse stress, strain, and deformation of aircraft structures.
  • Perform static and dynamic analysis using FEM tools and methodologies.
  • Investigate and identify the root causes of structural failures or anomalies, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Plan and conduct critical stress testing including the material equivalency test, sub-component test and proof load test, etc.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement design improvements based on analysis findings.
  • Ensure that all structural designs and analyses comply with relevant aviation regulations and industry standards.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Stress Engineer in the aerospace industry or automobile industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and software.
  • Experience in CAD Modelling.
  • Familiarity with carbon fibre materials and relevant industry regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Fluent English skill is a must.
