A Research Engineer to support the research for developing perception algorithms based on 4D radar. A Research Engineer position is available in the area of sensors perception and platform design in a project that involves simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithms and deep learning object detection.
The successful candidate will work with Prof. Danwei Wang and a group of Research Fellows, Research Associates, and Ph.D./Masters/Bachelors students in the school of EEE at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform research, development, implementation, and experimentation of the perception algorithms based on 4D radar
- Solve problems of robust perception in rainy weathers and expand the usage of the technologies to other weather conditions such as fog and smoke
- Utilize expertise in deep learning, simultaneous localization and mapping to contribute to research activities
- Responsible for algorithms design and implementation
- Conduct place recognition based on 3D and 4D radar fusion
- Develop 4D radar SLAM algorithm
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate radar-based perception into larger systems
- Other engineering support on hardware and software
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor/Master degree in automatic control, robotics, electrical engineering, etc
- Strong skills in C++, Python, Linux, and experience with ROS, and code management tools (git)
- Experience with algorithms based on different sensors (4D radar, 3D LiDAR, rgb cameras, thermal cameras, etc)
- Familiar with deep learning frameworks (such as Pytorch)
- Experience with deep learning based object detection
- Experience with SLAM and multi-sensor fusion algorithms
- Experience with place recognition based on sensors fusion
Preference will be given to applicants with the following additional skills:
- Has experience in multi-sensor perception and SLAM algorithms.
- Has experience in Lidar, cameras, radar, etc.
- Has experience in projects related to autonomous systems or robotics.
