General Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team. As a Analyst (Costing), you will be responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on the company's segment P&L. Your primary focus will be on costing for existing/new products/business lines, including fixed assets valuation, product costing, variance analysis, and cost control.
Roles & Responsibilities
Costing and Management Reporting Functions
- Develop life cycle costing for new product unit cost and at business unit level, including establishing standard costs.
- Support Make or Buy financial investment assessments.
- Monitors and updates the actual, committed and budgeted/forecasted cost periodically. Analyses these costs and trends in lights of impacts on unit cost to serve.
- Track internal budgets/forecasts, commitments, budget transfers, change and variation orders.
- Implement, updates and verify cost allocations according to WBS elements. Monitor and identify actual variance from projects current budget.
- Oversee the product lines and cost reductions as well as productivity of total cost.
- Collaborate with various Business Units on key projects cost projection and provide actual result analysis and reports.
- Prepare and present comprehensive cost analysis reports, segment PnL and presentations to stakeholders
- Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate cost-related data and insights.
Policies/ Procedures
- Sets, implements, and updates costing policies & procedures. Ensure key internal controls are met.
- Drives existing system/process improvement projects to improve management reporting and operational costing efficiency.
- Coordinate with Planning to ensure the alignment of milestone dates, baseline/re-baseline and forecast progress in the reports.
ERP Data Management
- Lead in the development and maintenance of the company's cost accounting system, including cost allocation methodologies, overhead rates, and cost drivers.
- Continuously reviews business processes and seeks ways to improve on the efficiency and controls of the financial applications and drives the implementation of those changes.
- Understand and translate finance/business requirements into a system product requirement
- Liaises with the information systems Team on the maintenance of the overall design, migration, configuration, and integrity of the Financial and costing applications.
The incumbent shall also participate in special projects and oversees other responsibilities as directed by the reporting manager from time to time.
Work Experience
- Candidate must have at least 5 years’ costing experiences and have tracked records in life cycle costings and margin tracking
- Prior experience in high-end ERP system (SAP- Controlling module or Cognos or Tagetik as product owner or super user) is desirable.
- Candidates from oil and gas industry, complex utility infrastructure. manufacturing will be considered favourably.
Education Requirements
- The incumbent must have a degree in Finance or Management Accounting or equivalent from a reputable university.

- Analytical, quick-thinking, resourceful, and independent.
- Process oriented, with strong data-mining skills and a sharp eye for details. Able to deep dive into the data and be inquisitive and ask questions to fully understand the information.
- Demonstrates initiative, and commitment to the tasks and deadlines.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint.
- Manages relationships with Business Unit Owners at all levels with clear and strong communication abilities and be able to engage them.
- Good presentation skills.
