As a Physiotherapist, you play a crucial role in the healthcare team by addressing the physical challenges and limitations that often accompany ageing. Your role is also to enhance the overall well-being and functional independence of elderly individuals and work to address the physical challenges and limitations that often accompany ageing. In addition, you are tasked to supercharge strength initiatives within clinical programmes in the Foundation.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate clincial history and conduct client assessment for the participant, including physical, psychosocial, geriatric specific, impairment-based assessment and relevant outcome measures.
  • Develop client centred and SMART goals, treatment plans and implement these plans for participants and caregivers.
  • Provide appropriate physiotherapy interventions and client education based on assessment, including:
  • Conduct functional mobility training, including prescription and use of appropriate walking aids.

According to participant’s needs:

  • Plan, conduct or supervise, and evaluate individual and group physical activity and exercise programmes, OR plan individual and group physical activity and exercise programmes for Programme Assistants [PA] and/or volunteers to conduct.
  • Conduct education and training for caregivers.
  • Conduct home assessments and interventions as requiredManage risk and quality, perform clinical administrion and operationsas required. Including conducting audits.
  • Assist in drafting and implementing new clinical services/ therapy.
  • Participate in continuing education and research including delivering in-service training for staff and volunteers and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation of participant’s progress and outcomes of care.
  • Recommend new strategies to the HOP and/or Lead Therapist.
  • Other duties as directed by the HOP and/or Lead Therapist.

Education/Professional Qualifications:

  • Registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council. (Full Registration)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with elderly +/- people with dementia.

  • Personal attributes: Empathy & compassion, effective communication, adaptability, cultural sensitivity, multidisciplinary teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Competencies: Geriatric rehabilitation, Fall prevention, Pain management, Mobility & functional independence, Cognitive rehabilitation, and Technology integration.

Salary listed is indicative and will commensurate with experience and qualifications.
