Requirements
· Minimum PSLE
· Ability to read and understand basic English language
· Able to work with computer hardware & applications i.e. Microsoft Office Applications such as MS Excel
· Comfortable carrying library materials with physical works involved
· Able to attain output and work in a team
· Able to commit for entire contract period
Job Description
1. Process Purchased Materials
· Affix barcode labels onto library materials, including books, magazines and audio-visual materials (e.g. CDs, DVDs, VCDs)
· Print and affixing colour code spine label on library materials
· Process and affix RFID tag on library materials
· Item/bin assignment – Sorting & retrieval of books to-and-fro the bins and shelves
· Scan coded tags affixed on library materials into NLB system
· Pack/unpack books in boxes/parcels
· Assist in maintaining Cellular Line and housekeeping
· Send Work-in-Progress items to next processing owners
Outcome
· Library materials are processed according to NLB processing standards to meet internal and external customer requirements
2. Process Non-Purchased Materials
· Affix barcode labels onto library materials, including books, magazines and audio-visual materials (e.g. CDs, DVDs, VCDs)
· Print and affixing colour code spine label on library materials
· Process and affix RFID tag on library materials
· Scan coded tags affixed on library materials into NLB system
· Sort materials according to the categories
· Retrieve and match copies of materials after cataloguing process
· Pack/unpack books in boxes/parcels & housekeeping
· Assist in maintaining Cellular Line and Workrooms housekeeping
· Send Work-In-Progress items to next processing owners
Outcome
· Library materials are processed according to NLB processing standards to meet NLB requirements
3. Packing of Library Materials for New and Upgrading Libraries
· Collect and sort new materialsby branches and categories
· Transfer packed boxes to designated pallets and prepare sorted materials for delivery to libraries
· Use pallet jack to transfer completed pallets for storage and stretch-wrap pallet when full
· Prepare Delivery Order according to new/upgrading library templates
· Ensure the correct pallets number are released to transporter
Outcome
· Materials are sorted and packed according to NLB’s requirements
· Accurate records of materials packed on daily basis
· Ensure safety in operation of the pallet jack
4. Other Ad-Hoc Duties
· Assist in other ad-hoc work as assigned by NLB supervisors/staff
· Assist in the transportation of materials, if required
EXPECTED PERFORMANCE OUTPUT
· Processed purchased library material of 800 volumes per team per day
· Process estimated 150 volumes of Legal Deposit items per day
· Process estimated 120 volumes per day of Gifts & Donation items
Process estimated 560 volumes per day for packing of new and upgrading libraries (based on sorting, packing, boxing up and palletising)
