Responsibilities
- Supervise the recruitment, selection, deployment, and rotation of shipboard personnel, ensuring compliance with international standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and competencies of the seafaring staff, focusing on safety, security, and operational efficiency.
- Regularly assess the performance of shipboard personnel, conduct appraisals, and address any performance or disciplinary issues as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with international maritime regulations, standards, and industry best practices, ensuring that all fleet personnel adhere to them.
- Promote a safety culture within the fleet, conduct safety audits, and investigate incidents or accidents to prevent their recurrence.
- Manage crewing budgets and resources, optimizing crewing arrangements while controlling costs effectively.
- Provide support and guidance to shipboard personnel when complex technical or operational issues arise, ensuring efficient problem resolution.
- Maintain accurate records of crew certifications, licenses, and qualifications, ensuring all personnel meet the required standards.
- Develop and execute contingency plans for personnel-related emergencies, such as medical evacuations, repatriations, and crew welfare matters.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration between shipboard personnel, the shore-based team, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth fleet operations.
Requirements
- Master Mariner license or equivalent, with extensive sailing experience on Tankers vessels.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the maritime industry, including experience in crewing, ship management, or a similar role.In-depth understanding of international maritime regulations, conventions, and industry guidelines related to tanker operations and personnel management.
- A strong commitment to safety, environmental protection, and compliance with industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as proficiency in English (and additional languages as needed), to effectively liaise with diverse teams, seafarers, and authorities.
