Marine Engineering Manager

Purpose:

Applies Project knowledge, Engineering knowledge and seasoned experience to independently manage the engineering and design of Marine facilities of FPSO project, resolve interface issues across different engineering disciplines and support the fabrication, installation, commissioning and start up of facilities and equipment/ utilities interface associated with the Hull and Marine of FPSO.


Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage the multi-disciplinary engineering and design team of hull and marine facilities of FPSO project in order to deliver FPSO Marine engineering within budget, schedule and quality
  • Provide leadership to the Marine engineering team and be the single focal point in the Project organization all issues related to Marine engineering to deliver consistent engineering design across all Hull and Marine facilities of FPSO.
  • Lead the setting up of all Engineering and Design systems, Engineering Execution Plan, Engineering Schedule, Master document Register (MDR), FEED Verification, Procurement Schedule, Engineering stages and gates, schedule of engineering reviews and Audit
  • Implement engineering change management for the Marine engineering post design freeze in all disciplines including communication, tracking and approval by the relevant stakeholders
  • Supervise all Marine discipline leads to ensure delivery of engineering design that complies with Company standards, Client standards, Class Society rules , applicable international codes and standards and Regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct internal Hull & Marine engineering team meetings, meetings with Shipyard Engineering team and Third Party, participate in meetings with Client and other external agencies . Prepare minutes of meetings and progress reports.
  • Motivate the Marine engineering team and Ship Yard team to perform, provide performance feedback, forecast and mange engineering resources on the project.
  • Develop Marine Engineering manning plan, engineering software budget , Third party study budget, approve engineering related variation orders from Ship Yard and suppliers.
  • Lead in forecasting and mobilizing engineering and design resources for the Marine Engineering Team in the project.
  • Lead in developing solutions to complex Hull and Marine Engineering problems by analyzing, interpreting and evaluating various precedents and data. Shall be capable of interfacing with with Clients on problem solving.
  • Ensure identification and integration of Safety and Quality requirements in the Design to ensure safe operability and maintainability. Be the Marine engineering representative for any quality issues or NCRs raised during System audits on engineering team
  • Ensure all applicable Engineerings Reviews of the project for Marine Engineering are conducted and closed out in a timely manner
  • Incumbent shall be capable of making timely engineering decision in case multiple valid solutions to challenges are generated, based on sound engineering practice and project objectives.
  • To be adequately familiar with the key activities and needs of all the engineering disciplines in Marine Engineering and how these activities interact and are sequenced, and their implications.
  • To be able to provide leadership to the Hull and Marine Team in resolving disputes among numerous stakeholders who may have different focus and priorities, both internal and external.
  • Lead Marine Engineering Risk Assessment in the project and ensure close out of the actions related to Marine engineering risks.
  • Implement Lessons Learnt from previous projects for Marine Engineering and also ensure the Marine Lessons Learned from the assigned project are captured and reported as per the procedure.
  • Shall take active role in contributing to various company initiatives for continuous improvement and development
  • Shall be capable of managing the Shipyards for detailed engineering of Hull and Marine facilities including their cost, quality and schedule of engineering.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering with minimum 20 years' experience in onshore/offshore Oil & Gas area or FPSO line(s) or MS degree plus minimum 18 years relevant experience. Diploma holders having 25-yrs experience with additional qualification/ Certificate (making the equivalent to degree) can also be considered. Minimum 1 FPSO experience is necessary.
  • Adequate knowledge of all the interfaces between Topside and Marine Engineering, facilities/systems of FPSO and working of all Process, Mechanical, Piping, Structure, Electrical & Telecom, Instrumentation and Marine engmeermg
  • Have adequate knowledge of design codes and regulatory requirementsEPCI project.
  • Familiar with use of Software, Database systems related to Engineering function
  • Knowledge of competing and alternative technologies
  • Must understand and interpret total project life cycle cost and benefits as well as their implications during FEED and EPCI phases of project.
  • Ability to organize meetings and liaise with class and client team to resolve issues.
  • Ability to conduct performance assessment of Marine Engineering Coordinators and Lead Engineers.
