JOB DESCRIPTION FOR TRADER
Osaka Gas Energy Supply and Trading (“OGEST”), 100% subsidiary of Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (“OGHQ”), is looking for a responsible Commercial Charterer to join the company.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a deep understanding of Osaka Gas’s LNG value chain, including LNG portfolio, fleets, receiving terminals, downstream energy demand etc. and work closely with HQ/OGEST colleagues so as to formulate/implement optimal trading strategies
- Ensure effective cooperation with operation member, middle/back office team, shipping, technical and other related stakeholders in HQ/OGEST
- Follow global LNG market closely and provide accurate and timely LNG market information to internal/external stakeholders including HQ in Japan to facilitate smooth trading activities
- Establish and maintain business relationship with counterparties, such as end-users, producers, traders and other key players
- Partner with internal stakeholders in OGEST & OGHQ on the research and establishment of carbon trading desk in OGEST
- Negotiate terms and conditions with counterparties and charter in/out LNG vessels with reasonable freight
- Provide accurate and timely LNG shipping information to internal/external stakeholders including HQ in Japan to facilitate smooth trading activities
- Support commercial activities such as calculating transportation costs, reviewing MSPAs/CMs, internal discussions for trading strategy, and ad-hoc duties in relations to HQ/OGEST’s trading and optimization
- Ensure effective liaison and coordination with member in HQ/OGEST regarding LNG vessel operations
- Develop and maintain business relationship with counterparties, such as LNG vessel owner, charter, broker and agent
- Other supporting roles as required by management
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum five (5) years of experience in LNG/energy industry and good connection/network with LNG shipping and market participants
- Excellent knowledge of all commercial aspects of LNG shipping and good connection/ network with LNG counterparties
- Analysis of overall transportation economics and a strong understanding of their impact upon the overall LNG value chain
- Proficient and fluent in Japanese to report to HQ and coordinate with domestic customers/counterparties in Japan (written and oral communication in Japanese with internal and external stakeholder will be required)
