Research Fellow (Biophysics and Assay Development)

The Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of analytical assays based on the optical imaging of functionalized nanospheres and their interactions with biological targets (including nucleic acids and proteins)
  • Synthesize and/or prepare the required assay materials
  • Test a wide range of assay conditions and sample types (potentially clinical samples)
  • Assist in identifying ideal assay targets based on literature/market/survey-based research
  • Collaborate with other IDMxS research clusters (Transduction, Analysis, and Translation) to package the optimized assays into a complete commercial product
  • Perform outreach and collaborate with industry and clinical partners
  • Perform literature reviews and stay up to date on developments in the field
  • Author regular reports and presentations to keep stakeholders updated on progress
  • Contribute to publications and patent applications
  • Collaborate with other IDMxS researchers to conceptualize and propose novel assays when feasible
  • Supervise PhD and undergraduate student projects as required

Job Requirements:

  • PhD Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biophysics, or related disciplines
  • Excellent knowledge in biochemistry/biophysics (nucleic acid design, protein interactions)
  • Experience in analytical assay design and optimization is preferred
  • Experience with optical imaging methods is preferred
  • Experience in nanomaterials synthesis (gold/silver) and conjugation is a benefit
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency in English
  • Ability to thrive in a highly multidisciplinary team-based environment
