Director, Nursing

Reporting to Medical Director (MD), the Director of Nursing provides positive leadership and effective management of the Nursing Department and other functions designated by the CEO/ MD, ensure a high level of professionalism and cost-efficient nursing service throughout DPH and participate in the planning of new future advancement.


Job Responsibilities:


Lead and Manage

  • Organize and develop the nursing department, its system and its staff to a high degree of professionalism
  • Ensure accurate monitoring of staffing levels to match hospice activity with appropriate staff, utilizing an effective combination of permanent and contract staff
  • Ensure that provision of effective recruitment programme in line with the budget
  • Ensure regular review of practice and level of service provided by the department and update relevant policy accordingly
  • Monitor and develop the nursing quality by actively participate in Quality Improvement programmes
  • Collaborate closely with other Leads for continuing improvement and compliance
  • Monitor and review budgets
  • Monitor manpower and staffing matters

Education

  • Participate in In-service programmes
  • Participate in patient / family health education programmes

Staff Support

  • Resolve conflicts, seeking help when required
  • Provide staff with emotional and situational support

Research

  • Encourage and Supervise Nursing Staff Research


Job Requirements:

  • Recognised Basic Degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) with at least 5 years of experience in Senior Nursing Management
  • Gerontology, Oncology Care or Palliative Care trained (preferred)
  • Experience in Nursing Administration / Leadership Role at least 2 years (preferred)
  • Experience in Quality Improvement (preferred)
  • Experience in Training and Research (preferred)
  • Mature, dynamic and self-motivated
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision
  • Compiles with accepted professional standards and practices
  • Possesses good references from employers and /or professional peers, flexible and cooperative in fulfilling all obligations
