Ocean Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Supervisory and escalation level of Sea Freight operations within Rhenus Logistics office in Singapore.
  • Ensure that the relevant Ocean Operations Department performs their duties in accordance with the SOP and KPI’s set.
  • Monitor and ensure that individual KPI’s are met.
  • Escalation Level in terms of:

- Unsolved/unclear issues relating to HB/L verification and shipment related disputes

- Adherence of customer’s requirements/ SOP

- Coordination with carriers and co-loaders at local level in terms of issues (and Department Head for the final acceptance of exempted/ restricted commodities or countries)

- Issues during on-carriage, such as add on of CRM contacts in time and/or disagreement between customer and sub-contractor

- Highlighting recurring system issues and change requests in coordination with next tier level

- Clarification and investigation as a supporting role to Accounting in terms of late settlement of payment to vendors and by customers due to operational issues

- Management of special requirements, such as provision of local charges in terms of OOG, DG, Reefer to local sales and overseas offices

  • Workload optimization for the team
  • Assignment of new business to Ocean Operation’s team
  • Financial decisions up to a certain amount
  • Coordination and escalation meetings with shipping lines regarding performance analysis
  • Management support as instructed by and in the absence of the next tier level.

Requirement

  • Minimum diploma in Logistics/ Transport Management/ Supply Chain or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-year experience in similar position.
  • Extensive knowledge of local and international freight services and customs policies.
  • Familiar with industry standard programs and able to operate standard systems relevant to the position.
  • Data analytical mindset is a must.
  • Highly motivated to learn new processes, receive feedbacks, support the team and work independently.
  • Experience in special shipment handlings: reefer, DG, contract/ project logistic, etc is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the business and customers.
  • Minimum diploma in Logistics/ Transport Management/ Supply Chain or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-year experience in similar position.
