Assistant Director of Nursing (Clinical)

Responsibilities:


Oversee nursing clinical care delivery

  • Establish frameworks for hospital-to-community models of care that include funding, manpower, pilots, outcome measurements and implementation.
  • Oversee nursing practices and care delivery outcomes.
  • Develop strategies to empower and engage patients and caregivers.
  • Promote inter-professional collaboration in care delivery.
  • Measure outcomes of advanced or specialized nursing practices to assess and improve new interventions.

Drive nursing quality and patient safety

  • Lead multi-disciplinary work groups to improve patient and staff safety.
  • Establish frameworks for critical communications.
  • Manage adverse events according to organizational frameworks.
  • Establish an open culture to facilitate quality and patient safety development.
  • Establish nursing infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Lead nursing to achieve local and international accreditations.
  • Guide nursing clinical audits.
  • Adopt new technology and electronic tools and devices for better quality and patient safety outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Registered Nurse with current SNB Registration
  • Post-basic certificate / Advanced Diploma in a Nursing specialty
  • Degree in health related subject or equivalent
  • Preferably a Master Degree in Health related subject or equivalent (or working towards)
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive clinical and administrative acute care experience
  • 3 years in the role of Assistant Director of Nursing of a medium to large size acute care hospital
  • Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is preferred
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of current issues in nursing
  • Good understanding of principles and practices to deliver reliable and safe services
  • Experience of successfully leading and managing a diverse team
  • Proven project management skills, with evidence of delivering large scale projects
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and effectively managing change in large complex environments
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate teams
  • Excellent leadership and analytical skills
  • Team Player
