Who We Need
The responsibilities are as stated below.
- Perform heel prick for neonates.
- Perform all in-house laboratory tests according to established procedures and reports results to clinicians.
- Familiarise with the workflows and technical bench work of all sections of the Laboratory and competent to perform technical bench work independently in these sections on a rotational basis.
- Responsible for prompt and accurate issue of blood products to patients.
- Responsible for proper inventory and management of blood products.
- Coordinate with dispatch staff in the prompt delivery and collection of blood and blood products.
- Perform specimen reception of laboratory tests into LIS (Laboratory Information System) and ensures that patient information and labratory testos orders matches the specimens received.
- Responsible for accurate result entry of all tests done.
- Perform calibration, quality control and regular maintenance on laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
- Prepare all test media/reagents for the analytical procedures.
- Perform laboratory stock inventory weekly.
- Responsible for record keeping of documentations according to established guidelines.
- Keep updated/ informed of developments as they affect work.
- Assist in activities required by Accreditation Bodies (scheduled verification of test performances).
- Assist in evaluation of instrumentation and test methodology.
- Keep abreast of new technical and theoretical procedures by attendance at lectures/ seminars/ courses conference in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- Work with medical staff in solving problems of laboratory utilization.
- Maintain a clinically safe environment according to established standards for conducting tests.
- Responsible for the safe disposal of biohazard and chemical wastes according to established guidelines.
How to Succeed
- Possesses a relevant Degree or Diploma.
- A minimum of 2-3 years working experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist preferably in Clinical Laboratory.
- Available to perform shift duties including night and on public holidays.
