Associate Director Lending Specialist, Private Banking

The Role Responsibilities

To assist in providing lending solutions in the Private Banking, across all the key footprint markets of Standard Chartered Bank. In essence, to proactively propose bespoke financing solutions in meeting the requirements of our Private Banking clients, including helping to diversify and build their personal wealth. On the other hand, keeping an analytical view and assessment on the underlying risks whilst proposing mitigations to address such risks and upholding the values of Standard Chartered Bank.

Strategy

  • Support lending strategy for the PvB locally and globally

Business

  • Analyst / Associate based in Singapore.
  • Assists in the analysis and assessment of bespoke financing cases, in conjunction with the relevant teams. This would include analysing and evaluation financial conditions, operations, market position of the underlying company.
  • Working closely with a senior lender from start-to-end in execution of loans
  • Prepare appropriate client proposals, pitchbooks, industry updates
  • Track market and general financial and economic developments
  • Participate on identified projects to spearhead lending initiatives
  • Collaborate with frontline, other support functions, business partners, and product specialists to deliver One Bank and provide effective client solutions.
  • Support the delivery of the Private Bank business’ short and longer-term objectives.

Processes

  • Support RMs in the credit process and perform tasks as per Global CST Engagement DOI
  • Get involved and lead some of the development as part of the credit process upgrades

Risk Management

  • Do what is right in order to avoid reputational risks and operational losses
  • Gain thorough understanding of risk and control environment and drive rectifications as required.
  • Ensure systems and procedures are in place to safeguard the security, integrity and confidentiality of information

Governance

  • Ensure that systems and controls are adequate and in compliance with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards and codes, including those governing all Risk types, Compliance, Operational Risk, Technology and Operations, Finance and Reputation
  • Adherence to the following Regulatory Compliance policies and processes (both on-shore & offshore, as is applicable) including but not limited to Treating Customers Fairly, Suitability, KYC, AML, CDD, AOD, AML, sanctions laws and terrorist financing, regulations, rules and standard business practices.
  • Ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead Group Product Functions to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles, Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Operation of Financial Markets and Financial Crime Prevention.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters

Our Ideal Candidate

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a reputable university.
  • 4+ years within the banking or financial sector.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and excel skills.
  • Good writing skills
  • Self-starter and is able to execute assignments independently with ability to interact directly with clients for day-to-day matters
  • A team player with strong social skills; highly adaptable
