Key Professional Requirements
● Strong software engineering fundamentals
● Strong knowledge of common algorithms, data structures, design patterns (event driven messaging)
● Advanced understanding of microservices and restful architectures
● Advanced understanding of container technology, Kubernetes, Docker, Nomad
● Advanced understanding of developing highly available applications in a cloud services environment, preferably Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud.
● Proficient in one of the following languages: Java, Go, Javascript
● Proficient in CI/CD & Test-Driven development
● Proficient in frameworks such as Spring, Node.JS, React
● Familiarity of cryptography in relation to blockchain
● Integration experience with core-banking platforms
● Wholesale banking, clearing and settlements experience will be a plus ● Understanding of ISO 20022 and SWIFT standards will be a plus.
● Has a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
Key Responsibilities:
● Discuss, design and implement enhancements to the Corda 4 platform using Kotlin
● Investigate and resolve issues with elegant solutions that stand the test of time
● Provide ad hoc support when required to our support team in the investigation of potential issues
● Support other departments in r3 where engineering assistance is required ● Coding, design and assisting other engineers with coding and design.
● Become a recognized expert across the Division and be used to using their comprehensive knowledge to take the lead over an area or component of a core product
● Use well developed and comprehensive judgment to make decisions of high complexity and impact, utilising team opinion and senior leadership where needed but often use autonomy in decision making
● Use well-honed business analysis skills to interact with product management team(s) to marry technical delivery and client requirements
● Use well developed customer focus skills to anticipate internal/ external customer requests
● Contribute to the technical direction and strategic vision of engineering
Preferable Individual qualities
• Able to work equally well as part of a team or individually
• Typically 6+ years of extensive commercial experience. Interacts with cross functional teams to take open requirements to a working production system
• Has a delivery focused attitude
• Motivated by solving obscure problems
• Experience investigating issues with applications running in production
• Experience debugging, reproducing or theorising edge cases that might be reported by Quality Assurance testers or customers
• Blockchain or Distributed Ledger Technology experience not necessary but an eagerness to learn
• Message Broker, Message Queueing or similar experience beneficial
• Solution-driven: Practical and resourceful
• Hands-on; willing and able to assist with ad-hoc requests from other teams
• Has learning agility to keep abreast of latest technology
• Team player and works well in a team that values open communication
