The role of Film Director's Assistant requires working closely with the director throughout the production process. Involvement begins at the pre-production stage through to post production.
This role requires the ability to be well organized, flexible and have good overview of the production process. Day-to-day tasks may include drafting scripts and treatment, liaising between producers, arranging and following up on meetings, assisting with ad-hoc duties.
Job Scope
- Work closely with the film director and writers in providing creative input for the script and storyboard.
- Read and analyse scripts, drafting proposals and putting together treatment.
- Assist the director in liaising with casting directors and producers in selecting talents and locations.
- Assist in meetings with key departments such as camera, art department, wardrobe pre, post and during filming.
- Assist in managing director's schedule and filming schedule with the producer and adhering to it.
- Work with the editor to create the offline and online cuts of the film.
- Source for required additions to the film i.e. stock footage/ music.
Requirements:
- A diploma or degree in Film/Production/Art/Mass Comm/Advertising/ or equivalent.
- Great passion for film and cinematography.
- Have an awareness and knowledge of camera equipment and cinematography.
- Technical production skills that will aid in completing the job scope.
- Flexibility in timings and travelling.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Great attention for detail, ability to multitask, highly organised and excellent time-management skills.
- Proficient with Mac OS, Keynote, Microsoft Office Suite.
