About the Role:
As the Principal Data Scientist, you will bring your extensive expertise to a fascinating problem space, creating innovative data products to elevate the owner experience through our app and machines. In this leadership role, you will drive technical and strategic vision across the Global Connectivity Data team and beyond, playing a vital role in shaping the overall strategy for wider initiatives and programs.
In this role, you will:
- Leverage subject matter expertise in ML and Data Science, focusing on A/B experiment design, measurement, forecasting, segmentation, and recommender systems.
- Lead end-to-end projects in Data Science and Data Engineering, contributing strategically to the evolution of the Data roadmap.
- Provide technical leadership, setting standards, improving processes, and conducting rigorous code reviews.
- Mentor and develop Data Scientists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Drive the evolution of the Data roadmap and contribute to a broad range of initiatives and programs.
- Communicate effectively with Product Owners and senior stakeholders, identifying and engaging in new opportunities for Dyson.
- Stay abreast of industry trends in Data Science and bring insights back to the team to inform decision-making.
- Contribute to recruitment efforts, helping grow a global Data team.
- Provide executive-level reporting and be accountable for the quality of analysis delivered.
About You:
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in Python development within Data Science and Software Engineering contexts.
- Expertise in API and services, unit-testing, OOP, and commonly used packages such as statsmodels, scikit-learn, and tensorflow.
- Expert-level SQL (BigQuery or Redshift an advantage).
- Cloud experience (GCP or AWS an advantage).
- Experience in building and supporting automated analytics solutions in production environments.
- Proven experience in line management of Data Scientists.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in Statistics.
- Proficient in driving business value through Data Science and measuring progress against KPIs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to the senior leadership team.
- Expertise in data visualization tools such as Tableau and Looker.
