Responsibilities
• The Incumbent must be familiar with the provisions of the Destitute Persons Act and the Destitute Person (Welfare Home) Rules and the Vulnerable Adults Act.
• The Incumbent will be responsible primarily for:
- The welfare, daily care and safe custody of residents in the home.
- Supervising and managing the Executives – Welfare & Operations, Healthcare Attendants and Nursing Aides involved in the daily care of residents.
- Accommodation of stay-in foreign workers.
- Administration of the Welfare Department.
• The Incumbent needs to:
- Ensure that all incidents and events of residents are properly recorded and reported.
- Sit in for residents’ misbehavior conference with Head of Centre and other colleague concern.
- Reports and submit incident/escape from lawful custody/death/outbreaks reports to Head of Centre and MSF.
- Follow-up with counselling reports of the residents concerned.
- Participate in the ICP (Individual Care Plan) development of residents concerned.
• Supervise the care, housekeeping and general cleanliness of the home and welfare of residents, i.e. Regular rounds to check the residents and the premises. Conduct regular search of residents’ lockers.
• Supervise the residents on the Home Earning Scheme, tally their monthly HES allowance and ensure proper accounting of payments to residents.
• Ensure updated records on admission, discharge (at Home / Hospital), escape from lawful custody and return of residents in the relevant registers. Ensure proper safe keeping of residents’ belongings and properties.
• Involved in the volunteer programmes in the Home or outings with the residents and listing the residents for outings.
• Ensure that all occupants/residents are familiar with the safety measures of the home and Fire Exits located within the premises.
• Conduct quarterly fire drills for the home.
• Perform night checks of the home once a month.
• Do up the rosters for staff in department
• Ensure that Executives – Welfare & Operations complete the monthly care plan and 6 monthly individualised care plans for residents assigned to their care.
• Attend to Board of Visitors’ (BOV) visit and 6 monthly audits by MSF in the home.
• Check the kitchen – vendor’s staff and area and also 3 monthly meetings with caterer.
• Send the Kitchen Audit to MSF every alternate month.
• Attend to the welfare of the foreign staff.
• Supervise staff involved in support services, including:
• Facilities management (repairs, maintenance, supervision of contractors),
• Drivers (transport, dispatch),
• Escort residents on their outings to the neighborhood
• Gatekeeping (roster, proper control of movements in and out of the home).
• Coffee Corner, laundry and linen.
• To carry out any other duties assigned by management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Diploma / Bachelor Degree
• Relevant 3 years of working experience in rotating shift work.
• IT savvy; able to work on the cloud and familiar with MS Office suite
• A team player
• Able to multi-task and work independently
WORKING CONDITIONS
3 rotating shifts
- 7.30am to 4pm
- 2pm to 10.30pm
- 10pm to 8am
Willing to work in a Welfare Home setting to maintain / improve the long term care of elderly residents.
