What the role is
The Development Control and Licensing Division (DCLD) ensures that environmental considerations are factored into land use planning and development control of new developments, and that the proposed developments are in compliance with environment health and pollution control requirements. DCLD also processes NEA licences, which covers areas such as radiation protection, pollution control, waste management, public cleansing, vector control and fumigation.
What you will be working on
You will be part of a team that carries out environmental planning and control so that environmental factors are being incorporated for proposed developments/projects to safeguard the environment. Your primary duties will include the following:
- Evaluate and process reports and technical studies related to environmental impacts on air, water, land and noise pollution.
- Evaluate and process pollution control studies, noise assessments, site specific impact assessments, environmental site assessments and climate change adaptation reports.
- Evaluate and convey technical advisories relating to environmental site assessment to landowners/developers, as well as to address related queries/feedbacks during consultation.
- Understand environmental data such as chemical properties and characteristics, potential exposure pathways and evaluate risk assessments.
- Review the technical findings and recommendations from environmental site assessment reports, and evaluate mitigation and/or remediation methods proposed.
- Review environmental planning norms and requirements to keep abreast with the developments in Singapore, leveraging on technology and state of the art environmental control measures
- Manage contract by working closely with the appointed contractor(s), monitoring their work progress and performance to ensure the works are carried out in satisfactorily and timely manner
What we are looking for
- Degree in Science (Chemistry)
- Good knowledge of environmental management, preferably with experience in handling environmental site assessments or land pollution
- Self-motivated, independent, resourceful and able to foster teamwork
- Good analytical, writing and interpersonal communication skills
- Good knowledge of environmental modelling tools
- As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
