Talbot is an international insurer and reinsurer operating within the Lloyd’s market through Syndicates 1183 and 2019. We have been part of AIG since 2018 and our ambition is to be AIG’s Centre of Excellence at Lloyd’s. Headquartered in London, Talbot has offices in New York and Singapore and over 300 people working across these three locations.

Syndicate 1183 underwrites multiple classes of business including Political Violence/Terrorism, Marine, Energy (off-shore and on-shore), Marine and Energy Liability, Hull, Cargo and Specie, Political Risk, Property, Accident and Health, Financial Lines, Cyber, Alternative Risks, Non-Physical Cyber and Treaty Reinsurance.
Syndicate 2019 reinsures premium written by AIG’s Private Client Group, covering Homeowners, Auto, General Specie and other products.
About the role
What you need to know:
- Underwriting support and administration for Underwriting teams for Cargo, Political Risk, Fin Lines and Product Recall. To carry out and assist the Underwriters with the following:
- To ensure all documentation to be scanned and indexed into the DMS system that comes through the Core Team.
- To ensure data entry is in accordance with agreed guidelines, e.g. endorsements, quotes, promise lines
- To ensure the Core team address item received electronically (e.g. email inboxes) within agreed SLA’s.
- To ensure consistent field use within the Core team.
- To ensure accuracy and the resolution of any grey areas, of data entry manuals or and escalating any Issues.
- To ensure accuracy and timeliness of entry for endorsements.
- Proactive support of other Technical Assistants to allow for segregation of duties and holiday / sickness cover.
- To ensure monitoring and chasing of all outstanding data as required.
- Act as an escalation point for the Premium management team as required by the Core team.
- Attend and prepare necessary documentation for Core team meetings and for the monthly Operations meeting.
- To be a SME and/or Super user on Underwriting Systems as required.
- Ensure both personal and allocated class (es) compliance with document retention policy.
- To build and maintain close working relationships with Underwriters and Capita.
- To respond to all internal and external queries as required
- To act in accordance with all regulatory standards and principals
- To provide box support at Lloyd’s when required
- To ensure you are building and maintaining close working relationships Underwriters and TA’s
- Ad-hoc and general administration duties as and when required
- To run, update and upload the PMD report to Lloyds before the 15th of each month.
Premium Management
- To prepare, produce and distribute weekly premium management reports such as large movement and signed variance reports.
- To find and reallocate misallocated premium/signings.
- To liaise and work with all Underwriting Teams in all areas of Premium Management data integrity and answer any queries they may have.
- Responsible for USM processing:
- To process and validate risks signed through Xchanging; validation of all Underwriting Signing Messages (USMs).
- To carry out daily posting, to ensure end of month process posting deadlines are reached.
- Liaise with UTS, Underwriting, Xchanging and Brokers on processing queries, action and monitor until resolved.
- Identify and liaise with underwriters and chase as appropriate, for partial risks where premium has been processed through Xchanging.
- To ensure that USM corrections are actioned where applicable.
Continuous Improvements
- To align to our operating principles and to participate or instigate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as quick wins, root cause problem solving
- To review the current processes, for the areas you are responsible for, to make improvements and streamline the process
- To promote a continuous improvement culture amongst UTS
What we’re looking for:
- Good interpersonal and communication skill
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent general computer literacy
- Attention to detail
- Diploma / Degree in any field
- Working towards the ACII exams
