We would like to recruit a Bioinformatics Specialist at the National Cancer Centre, Singapore. You will be involved in cancer genetics and omics projects utilizing exome sequencing and other high-throughput genome-wide technologies. You will be required to independently perform data management, extraction, and analysis of omic data, and assist in the preparation of research publications, reports and grant applications. You will also present research findings from our group at meetings and conferences, and meetings with collaborators/other researchers.
Requirements:
- MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, genomics or related fields.
- Must have a working knowledge of Linux including shell scripting and using common command-line tools.
- Must have experience in genomic data analysis (targeted/exome/genome/methylome) including the use of tools for alignment and variant calling, and the design and execution of omic-scale analyses.
- Proficient in using at least one programming language (R or Python) for data analysis/visualization.
- Able to work independently and motivated to self-learn.
- Good communication skills and writing skills.
- Extremely organized, meticulous and patient.
- Strong interpersonal skills, team player.
- A strong interest in genetics and “omics” research and highly self-motivated.
Additional requirements (preferred):
- Knowledge of machine learning approaches to develop prediction models.
- Knowledge of classical statistical tests/analysis.
- Knowledge in using cloud computing resources (AWS or Google Cloud).
- Experience in analyzing data generated from microarrays.
