Job Description
General Duties:
· The Personnel is to support students who require highly-individualised, targeted and intensive intervention and support. The Personnel will:
o Engage and check in with high needs/at risk students in timely and regular conversations.
o Be required to do home visit.
o be a positive role model/ significant adult to the high needs/at risk students.
o Be required to work with parents of high needs/at risk students.
o Organize programmes for high needs/at risk students.
· The Personnel is to support high needs/at risk students in 5 areas:
o Academic support (low progress learners).
o Social emotional (self-harm, trauma, mental health).
o Behaviour/ Attendance (irregular attendance, long-term absentees).
o Social skills (peer relation issue).
o Vulnerable (lack of adult role models).
· The Personnel is to support students daily on after school engagement programme (Gear-up Programme). The Personnel will:
o Be responsible in the daily operation of Gear-up room.
o Work with members of Student Development Team (SDT) and/or Youth Worker (if any) on after school engagement programme (Gear-up Programme) to engage students meaningful.
· The Personnel is to manage the updating of case summary notes of students engaged and compilation of cases. The Personnel will:
o Update the cases under his/her charge via case summary note.
o Ensure all engagement details are recorded in the case summary and email to members of SDT and school leaders.
o Promptly update or highlight to Year Heads if there is/are any self-harm or suicide ideation case or any cases that required immediate attention.
o Ensure the safe-keeping and confidentiality of such records and details.
· Be required to sign the ‘UNDERTAKING TO SAFEGUARD OFFICIAL INFORMATION’ document.
· The Personnel is to work with members of Student Development Team to assist Year Heads, Assistant Year Heads, HOD CCE, HOD SM and SH SM and members of the Student Development Team to oversee and complete assigned work related to support high needs and at risk students. The Personnel will:
o Assist the Year Heads to liaise with external organisations, such as Family Service Centres, Community Centres, etc, in matters relating to dealing with high need and at-risk students.
o Not make decisions on behalf of Year Heads but will forward the report, invitation or information to the Year Heads for further action.
Others Duties:
· Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the school
Requirements
· Minimum GCE ‘A’ Level from a local junior college, diploma from a local polytechnic, or degree in any field.
· Ability to provide academic support (English and/or Math) for students aged 12 to 17 years old
· Ability to connect with students aged 12 to 17 years old.
· Ability to engage students aged 12 to 17 years old.
· Good interpersonal, planning, analytical and negotiation skills.
· Ability to multitask, work independently and in a team.
· Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet.
· Minimum of 1 year experience in working with students aged 12 to 17 years old.
Working hours
· Mondays to Thursdays: 7.30am to 5.30pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break.
· Fridays: 7.30 am to 4.00 pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break.
· Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.
