The Role Responsibilities

To act as key member of the ASEAN Cluster PRB team to provide expertise, guidance, training and support for business units and HR team in the areas of PRB issues as well as to at the champion for assigned reward products to ensure there are consistency and synergies in the applications.

Strategy

· Provide expertise in all Performance, Reward & Benefits (“PRB”) issues, acting as a trusted reward adviser to relevant Country Management Team (“MT”) members and their direct teams.

· Provide support on the execution of reward advisor matters and the execution of relevant policies, standards and practices.

· Review and implement specific benefits and wellbeing initiatives, in consultation with the relevant PRB Product teams to maintain alignment and to ensure competitiveness in the market

· Work with colleagues in the region to align on key projects and seek simplification in processes

Business

· Provide reward support, including structuring hiring and reviewing new hire packages, changes to existing employees’ contracts, developing High Remuneration Recruit proposals, mobility taxation, buy-outs of variable remuneration and the planning and completion of the annual performance and pay review.

· Establish and maintain relationships with key country stakeholders in ASEAN Clusters (such as Country HR Heads, HR business partners and Country MT) in order to manage and ensure that remuneration activities within ASEAN Clusters are aligned with Group policies and standards and that activities are consistent across regional and functional business areas.

· Maintain an up to date understanding of local regulatory requirements. Ensure that all reward related policies, standards and practices in countries are compliant with local requirements, reflect best practice and are aligned with the current and future Group HR and business strategy. Support region wide communications and answer questions from the business.

· Proactively support the communication of changes to the Group’s remuneration policy and standard to HR stakeholders.

· Evaluate the competitiveness and effectiveness of Standard Chartered’s remuneration policy and practices within ASEAN Cluster and feedback into the PRB network.

Processes

· Collaborate with PRB Product teams to achieve excellence in the implementation of PRB products and policies across businesses, seeking to improve understanding of these in order to drive business performance and employee motivation.

· Partner with relevant Service Delivery in the negotiation and recommendation of Service Level Agreements through the region with the Bank’s external reward and benefits vendors (e.g. remuneration survey vendors, benefits consultants, insurance providers) to secure service and agree budgets.

· Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of PRB activities by technology enhancements, migration to Global People Services or process improvements.

· Manage, evaluate and improve effectiveness of all HR products, plans and processes.

In collaboration with other members of the team, manage the year-end performance and pay review (“YER”) processes for assigned countries within the ASEAN Cluster, in line with Group guidelines and acting as a point of contact for relevant MT members. Specifically:

· Lead discussions with the Country MT and/or business teams in relation to the YER messaging.

· Manage other annual remuneration processes including budgeting and forecasting.

People & Talent

· Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (at Group, Regional and country level) in order to ensure their engagement and sponsorship of the Bank’s reward philosophy, meet regional and business specific product needs, and to provide support across the regions.

Risk Management

· Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group’s controls to deliver effective reward governance in countries and businesses and, if necessary, oversee changes in those areas

· Support statutory and internal audits, as appropriate.

· Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates and local regulatory requirements

Governance

· Manage, audit, evaluate and improve effectiveness of all specific PRB products, plans and processes in PRB in assigned countries in the ASEAN Cluster.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

· Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

· Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

· Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

· Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in HR. Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures

Our Ideal Candidate

· 8+ years of Reward advisory skills including benchmarking, and compensation packages for hiring, transfers and exits

· Education: Degree

· Certifications: Professional HR C&B Qualifications are a Plus.

Role Specific Technical Competencies

· Reward advisory skills including benchmarking, and compensation packages for hiring, transfers and exits

· Cash compensation including running pay-round including systems, salary planning, job evaluation & promotions

· Expertise in core products including share schemes, tax, international mobility, accounting of remuneration, payroll

· Expertise in reward governance including remuneration regulations, external reporting and disclosures, risk, control and conduct alignment with remuneration

· Expertise in pensions and benefits

· Expertise in financial control and analytics

· Stakeholder management including frontline (business stakeholders), HR and Board / management team level

· Written and verbal communication skills

· Risk management, vendor management and data governance skills
