We are looking for a highly motivated research officer who is interested in developing next-generation DNA and RNA therapeutics for treating genetic diseases. The individual will be involved in a multi-disciplinary project to develop new technologies and tools for precision editing of nucleic acids. There will be opportunities to further develop techniques in protein engineering, directed evolution, and synthetic biology.
Responsibilities:
- Design and clone constructs for experiments
- Perform activity characterization in vitro and in mammalian cells
- Perform qPCR/RT-qPCR of mammalian cells
- Perform high-throughput sequencing library preparation
- Analyze data and communicate results of experiments to colleagues
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment and general laboratory supplies
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other related fields
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques (eg. molecular cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, miniprep)
- Experience with flow cytometry, protein expression, bacteriophage, high-throughput sequencing, or bioinformatics will be valued
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Highly motivated, passion for science, committed to laboratory work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
- Curiosity to learn new knowledge and skills
