Attachment Description
The trainee should be able to do market research to detect price trends and future availability of materials and goods; locate vendors; negotiate prices; prepare requisitions and purchase orders; and keep purchase records.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Creating and putting in place purchasing strategy.
2. Managing daily purchasing activities, overseeing employees, and assigning duties.
3. Managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts, prices, and schedules, among other things.
4. Keeping the supplier database, purchase records, and related documents up to date.
5. Working with inventory control to determine and manage inventory requirements.
6. Managing the upkeep of office and manufacturing equipment and machines.
7. Assuring that all items purchased fulfill the necessary quality standards and requirements.
8. Creating cost estimates and budget management.
9. Efforts are being made to improve buying systems and processes.
10. Orienting new staff to the purchase process and the purchasing system.
