Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or Business Information Technology
  • Critical thinking, collaborative, innovative and positive work attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language
  • Minimum four years experience in administration, monitoring and maintenance of learning platforms, applications and data is required
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementation, configuration, management, administration, integration, development and troubleshooting of on-premises and cloud based systems and applications targeted to assist, enhance and augment learning and teaching, ideally in a K-12 education environment
  • Knowledge of and experience in implementation, configuration, management, administration, integration, development and troubleshooting all aspects of a learning management systems as well as other learning platforms and data that support curriculum delivery, planning and reporting
  • Knowledge of experience in academic and learning processes of a K-12 school that involve students, staff and parents
  • Experience in producing high quality documentation, knowledge base and training materials
  • Experience in project management is highly desirable
  • Ability to effectively analyze and resolve root causes of technical problems
  • Ability to organize and analyze data and complex tasks in a systematic manner
  • Able to work diligently, independently, confidentially and under time constraints
  • Positive and growth mindset with excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new and innovative technology developments

Roles and Responsibilities

This role of Applications and Data Administrator is primarily responsible for implementing, managing, organizing, administering, integrating, developing and troubleshooting the learning platforms, systems and associated data at SAS. This position is also responsible for general planning, oversight, intelligent analysis and training for the use of these applications and platforms as well as routine and non-routine system operations and maintenance functions of these systems. A list of non exhaustive responsibilities related to this position is as follows:

  • Primary responsibility for all periodic as well as ad-hoc tasks and projects to support the needs of school that are linked to the applications, systems and platform at SAS that directly serve learning and teaching. Administering and overseeing Learning Management Systems constitute bulk of these responsibilities
  • Manage, monitor and maintain academic application and learning platforms. Oversee practices and processes as well as troubleshoot to ensure integrity, safety and availability of these application and their associated data as part of SAS's information systems
  • Review and analyze evolving requirements of and from applications and systems in light of learning and teaching practices and needs of the curriculum delivery at SAS. Investigate and propose technological solutions that meet these business requirements, including integrations between different applications and systems
  • Recommend new processes or improvements in existing processes and workflows related to applications and systems under this role’s purview according to education industry’s best practices and identified needs of SAS
  • Work closely with technology team, Technology and Innovation Coordinators, divisional administrator and Office of Learning to encourage the dynamic and creative use of academic data, learning platforms and systems implemented at SAS
  • Plan and execute basic and advanced scripting as well as database functions as required/related to the academic applications and systems
  • Manage, research, analyze, design, test, monitor and implement existing and new features to assist in the effective use of various functions of the systems and applications under this role’s purview
  • Maintain appropriate and high quality documentation on procedures, configurations and change management
  • Coordinate and administer required training to SAS faculty and staff
  • Coordinate and monitor maintenance and support of the applications and systems under this role’s purview with the vendors and other third party support and service providers
  • Maintain an awareness of the latest technological trends and developments in applications and systems associated with learning, academics and curriculum development and delivery
  • Participate in evaluating new learning platforms and software projects to determine impacts
  • Serve as tier 2 support to help desk and school-based specialists on questions and problems with the applications and systems under this role’s purview
  • Record all incidents and requests with relevant details in the IT helpdesk system reported via walk-ins, phone calls or emails.
  • Vigilantly and effectively monitoring, evaluating and sharing responsibility with other team members for all incidents and requests reported via the IT helpdesk platform.
  • Working diligently to meet the SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for all reported issues and requests.
  • Analyzing and evaluating all reported incidents and requests for any coordination, collaboration, escalation or delegation required with tier 3 i.e. vendor level support in the team.
  • Corresponding and collaborating closely with other school wide technology teams (Educational Technology and Innovation Coordinators, Educational Technology Coaches and technology team) regarding escalated/re-assigned support tickets and tasks
  • Performing other duties as and when assigned by the supervisor
