Job Description
The Facade Design Manager oversees all fundamental parts of the design process. The Facade Design Manager ensures drawings and proposals comply with the client's requirements, as well as with statutory and other requirements.
Duties and responsibilities
- Fuction as in house technical resource for project issues regarding architectural and engineering design
- Ensure that design drawings meet client requirements (shop drawings, cutting lists, production drawings, job order etc)
- Liaise and coordinate with members from Projects, Contracts, and Production to ensure that projects proceed according to schedule and within budget
- Liaise and coordinate with external agencies - architescts, QPs, PE, contractors, sub contractors, suppliers etc from inception to completion of project
- Manage design activities to ensure the drawings are completed and approved in time for fabrication
- Prepare materials takeoff and optimization
- Work with Procurement Department for materials procurement
- Check and ensure the quality of all drawings and designs
- Participate in the development of proposals, pricing and presentations for design work
- Manage and implement design schedule and forecasts
- Assign design resources based on project type, complexity and timelines
- Ensure proper record keeping and version control for all drawings, cutting lists etc in accordance with ISO procedures.
- Manage, supervise and train members of the department
- Source for and manage external drafters as necessary.
