Lorry Driver duties and responsibilities
A Lorry Driver is responsible for the goods they are assigned to transport. They are responsible for keeping to a schedule and ensuring that the goods are delivered intact, without damages and as requested by the customer. A Lorry Driver’s main duties and responsibilities include:

- Ensuring vehicles are mechanically sound and legally roadworthy
- Performing basic repairs and maintenance in the event of accident or breakdown while in transit
- Safely securing heavy loads and large goods for transport
- Organising the most efficient route from pickup point to drop off point
- Keeping informed of road closures, accidents and traffic diversions
- Organising multiple drop-offs and deliveries in each working day
- Supervising and assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries into the lorry
- Updating vehicle log books, recording deliveries and tracking mileage
- Complying with all MOT and in-house regulations and rules
