Responsibiities and Accountabilities
Credit Admin
Primarily responsible for independent controlling and monitoring of key aspects of the credit process. Specifically, assist line manager / unit in the core deliverables of the CAD within the Credit & Risk Group by:
a) Ensuring all facility and security documentation are prepared in accordance with credit approvals, Credit/Legal documentation policy and department procedures.
b) Review of routine facility documentation in liaison with all for both, existing and new facilities.
c) Ensuring receipt and satisfaction of conditions precedent prior to a facility limit activation and utilization.
d) Tracking, follow-up, satisfaction and reporting the status of conditions subsequent documents and highlight exceptions to line manager.
e) Management of all security & documentation associated with the credit portfolio.
f) Building and maintaining a portfolio-wide database to capture the day to day management of security and collateral taken by the bank against its’ lending.
g) Monitoring of security/collateral, documentation, financial & non-financial undertakings etc.
h) Ensuring timely activation of limits for utilization and their communication to all stakeholders.
i) Preparation of periodic reports as well as any MI reports for the department.
General
a) Performing all tasks predominantly in the capacity of a checker and a maker (as needed).
b) Assuming the role of a joint custodian in the safe custody management process, as and when nominated.
c) Ensuring all processes and procedures are adhered to at all times.
d) Escalating risks/issues through the line manager for timely resolution.
e) Partaking in planned and ad-hoc departmental projects.
Credit Risk Analyst
a) To assess complex financials, projections, assess and summarize industry and country risks.
b) Good writing and presentation abilities to cover complex structures and credit obligors in a succinct and clear manner.
c) Improve quality and timeliness of CAFs, to be aligned with risk appetite, policies & procedures, with key risks and mitigants identified.
d) Make a clear recommendation to the appropriate credit committee.
e) Timely submission of credit proposals in line with prescribed timeframe for submission to Credit Committees for approval.
f) Ensure good quality of credit risk management information presented to Credit Committees ensuring consistency, quality, and objectivity of presentation.
g) Review the inputs of rating models to ensure consistency of application, accuracy, and appropriateness of input factors to generate Risk Rating.
Business Support
a) To provide support in terms of interpretation of the Group Credit Policy its related standards and procedures.
b) Available for consultation on credit application forms (CAF) as to whether the CAF is adequate in terms of its explanation and mitigation of the risks associated with the transaction under discussion.
c) On submission of the CAF, the Credit Risk Analyst ensures that it is in compliance with group policies and requirements. Comments on any deficiencies and indicates a level of support, be it positive, negative or conditional for the submission.
d) Work with the Credit Analyst ensures that spreadsheets have been compiled correctly, covenants have been complied with and any additional conditionality delivered.
e) Maintain independence of 2nd line of defense while ensuring timely and active support to 1st line of defence in underwriting acceptable credit transactions
f) To be involved in risk related projects.
Development and training
a) The Credit Risk Analysts must ensure that they are receiving appropriate training from either internal or external sources.
b) Attend online or external / internal seminars or presentations from subject matter experts.
Requirement
· Minimum qualifications are a post graduate degree in Economics, Finance, Accountancy or Business Administration with a strong foundation in analytical, statistical, and other quantitative techniques.
· A minimum of 5 - 7 years’ experience in banking with a substantial part of that in Credit functions across section of products, markets and business types e.g., traditional commercial banking, loans syndications, trade finance (structured and unstructured), securities investment/trading, capital markets and knowledge of Treasury products profile and use in trading/hedging;
· Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in credit admin or in a similar function, with large regional or global financial institution(s).
