The lead Online Artist is responsible for overseeing others who combine live-action and computer-generated elements into visual effects shots that realize the vision and creative direction of the client and visual effects supervisor.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise Compositors, and oversee the running of projects for the online team to standardise the file organisation and techniques, if its required.
2. Evaluate the creative and technical approach for assigned shots.
3. Use an array of proprietary software tools to produce extensive composite shots for the final output using all the elements given by the production team.
4. Creative responsibility to keep the continuity of the sequence consistent with the key shot.
5. Ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard
6. Stay on schedule and meet deadlines whilst maintaining the highest quality of work.
7. Craft and update documentation for assets, tools, techniques and workflows.
8. Maintain and follow best practices for versioning control, naming convention and organization of graphic files.
9. Perform all tasks associated with the compositing process, including 2D tracking, matte extraction, layering of elements and colour grading
10. Complete work within the schedule while maintaining constant communication with the production team and other artists
11. Ability to share techniques and mentor junior-level talent
12. The ability to perform digital matte painting, texture painting, or paint/roto work is a plus
