Job Overview

The Corporate Communications Lead for Southeast Asia will serve as a senior lead of integrated communications, working with business leaders to support our SEA business while enhancing the reputation of the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) in key markets. This role includes external and internal communications, public affairs, strategic media relations, CSR and issues management.


The Walt Disney Company, together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, is a leading diversified international family entertainment and media enterprise that includes three core business segments: Disney Entertainment, ESPN, and Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. In the SEA region, the Company has operations that includes Disney+, studio, content sales and consumer products.


Detailed Description of Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic, integrated communication plans to support our business goals in SEA with a focus on corporate brand reputation, CSR and corporate culture
  • Establish strategic positioning of TWDC in these markets aligned with business goals
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to the business team and senior stakeholders on market trends, potential issues and opportunities
  • Design a proactive and targeted engagement program targeting the most influential editors, key opinion leaders and stakeholders
  • Develop strategic CSR plans for key markets aligned with global and regional priorities
  • Executive communications and thought leadership with regional leaders
  • Work closely with Disney+ publicity and marketing team on targeted press engagement
  • Proactively identify and manage potential issues and opportunities
  • Work with executive teams and HR on internal employee engagement programs and communications

Qualifications / other skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Public Affairs, Communications, Journalism, Government, Broadcast Communications or other relevant areas.
  • 15+ years of corporate communications, journalism and media experience
  • Knowledge of SEA regional media and consumer landscape and dynamics; media and entertainment industry knowledge a plus
  • Experience advising and working with senior business and government stakeholders
  • Issues and crisis communications experience.
  • Deep editor and stakeholder relationships in the region
  • Team player with experience working with virtual teams across markets and regions
  • Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and strong project management skills.
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence and forge partnerships both internally (across Asia and the U.S.) and externally.
  • Proactive, self-starter, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • High level of corporate professionalism, maturity and passion.
