Research Assistant (Data Analytics for Insure-tech)

A Research Assistant position is currently available in the College of Business, Nanyang Business School.

The research project is seeking to hire a Research Assistant to collect, structure and analyze data for fin/insure-tech problems, as well as, implement machine learning techniques to applications of financial risk identification and management and conduct related quantitative analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather data through various data sources.
  • Preprocess data and ensure data quality.
  • Conduct literature reviews on relevant areas.
  • Contribute to the design of research studies.
  • Use programming languages and software tools to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data.
  • Write reports to summarize results.
  • Create visualizations for communications.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics or data science.
  • Familiarity with various machine learning algorithms and frameworks.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Tensorflow, Python and R.
  • Understanding of relevant statistical concepts.
  • Research/work experience in quantitative risk management and fin/insure-tech related problems.
  • Research/work experience with web data scraping, data pre-processing, data automation, data visualization, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of working with databases.
  • Good verbal/writing communication skills.
