We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Corporate Actuarial.

Principal Responsibilities

Actuarial responsibilities in HSBC Life are split between the Appointed Actuary (regulatory deliverables such as RBC2 reporting and discretionary benefit decisions) and the Head of Corporate Actuarial (corporate actuarial deliverables such as financial reporting and the modelling and assumptions supporting these, and strategic actuarial projects). The Head of Corporate Actuarial will work closely with the Appointed Actuary, and will also work closely with the CFO and CEO of INSP to formulate business strategy and to maximize business development opportunities.

  • Review the profitability of all lines of business.
  • Set, monitor and review product and business profitability objectives for the life business in view of business profitability, risk tolerance level
  • Have significant influence on business strategy as well as business development plan
  • Work closely with the Head of Financial Reporting and Control to ensure financial reporting is robust.
  • Provide expert advice to the senior management of INSP including CEO, CFO and CRO.
  • Coach, train and motivate a team of actuaries to provide actuarial advice to the INSP Management team
  • Provide actuarial advice and support to the INSP Board and Management team on ad-hoc basis on various initiatives
  • Implement relevant group policies
  • To discharge compliance responsibilities by implementing Compliance policy and procedures
  • To discharge the Business Money Laundering Control Officer's responsibilities by implementing anti-money laundering policy and procedures

Qualifications - External

  • Min. 10 years of experiences in Actuarial.
  • Deep understanding of and expertise in IFRS17.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Project management experience, organizational skills and ability to think innovatively.
  • Experience preparing and/or conducting briefings and interfacing at all levels of management.
  • Need to attend Board meeting and Audit Committee.
  • Demonstrated initiative, autonomy and commitment to process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically balanced with practical day-to-day execution.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, leadership and problem solving skills.
