Job Summary
Fugro Satellite Positioning has an immediate opening in the Singapore office for a Network Engineer. This position, as part of a global team, is responsible for implementing and managing a reliable and secure Fugro Data Network in support of real-time Global Navigation Satellite System services.
This will involve hardware and software configuration, monitoring and proactively supporting the daily operation of our Fugro Data Network, including Network Control Center (NCC), Remote sites and Satellite uplink sites.
This role works with the Singapore Network Control Centre personnel and in close collaboration with the USA Network Control Center and additional Fugro Satellite Positioning operational and development personnel worldwide in support of our Global infrastructure.
About the Role:
- Configure and update local/remote routers, install, configure and update software, security patches, licensing and virus scanners on local and remote systems
- Install and reconfigure NCC cabling and hardware and support remote site hardware installation and reconfiguration.
- Monitor Network performance and address issues as appropriate to maintain security and operational capability
- Coordinate planned downtime with Network Operations Manager and/or Operational staff to minimise customer impact
- Determine cause for whole or partial system and/or network downtime and implement solutions to improve availability
- Participate in an after-hours support roster for NCC operations
Key Contacts (Internal):
Work with the Network Operations Manager and / or technical staff to design and implement a data handling infrastructure incorporating reference stations, Network Control Centres, disaster recovery sites and uplinks appropriate to the current and future needs of the Fugro Data Network.
About you:
Education: College coursework in information technology required; degree in computer networking systems, IT or computer science preferred.
Working experience: 0-3 years
License/ certification/ qualification: CCNA qualified. In depth understanding of Linux, Windows and data networks.
Languages & Proficiency: English, Proficient
Other: Understanding of current and emerging data communications technologies
