Job Description: Software Engineering Manager
We are looking for a skilled Engineering Manager with outstanding technical expertise and people management experience. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in developing highly scalable applications, managing at least two scrum teams. These teams are responsible for building backend services and front-end applications utilized by millions of our customers. You’ll contribute to one of our expanding range of services as we broaden our reach beyond digital fintech services.
Responsibilities:
- Mentor and manage a team of software engineers, setting goals, facilitating career development, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Oversee software project execution, ensuring on-time delivery while meeting quality standards.
- Actively participate in coding, code reviews, and contribute to the development process to maintain technical proficiency and provide practical guidance to the team.
- Set technical direction, stay updated with emerging technologies, and incorporate best practices to enhance product innovation.
- Enforce coding standards, continuously improve engineering processes, and promote test automations.
- Foster a collaborative environment and ensure clear communication within the team and with cross-functional teams.
- Regularly engage with stakeholders, providing updates and insights on team progress and project outcomes.
- Guiding and coaching an exceptional team of engineers, mentoring them in technical and non-technical aspects, and leading them to build stable, scalable, and reliable features and services.
- Helping them to shape their individual careers and growing the team to become more self-organized, more agile and more autonomous.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Skilled in coaching and mentoring diverse teams of engineers (with at least 2 years of team management)
- Expert-level proficiency in designing and developing high-performance, concurrent applications. Experience using Golang would be an added advantage.
- Good communication skills, with the capability to oversee squad priorities, deadlines, and project outcomes.
- Strong grasp of product and business metrics, adept at setting objectives using the OKR framework.
- Demonstrates a balanced approach towards project features and engineering excellence, with a solid product-oriented mindset.
- Background in working with distributed systems, parallel processing, and handling highly complex software applications.
- Have a good appetite for taking calculated risks, demonstrating the ability to weigh options and make strategic decisions under uncertainty.
- Understanding development lifecycle and collaborating with cross-functional and remote teams.
- Curiosity, creative outside-the-box problem solving abilities and an eye for details.
