Job Summary
The Assistant Cook is responsible for providing support to the Head Cook in the preparation and service of meals. This includes prepping ingredients, cooking items, plating meals, and cleaning up the kitchen throughout the day. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized and able to multitask.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Head Cook with food preparation and cooking of menu items
- Perform cleaning duties such as washing dishes, wiping counters and cleaning kitchen areas
- Ensure food safety standards are met and followed
- Receive and store food items according to safety and sanitation guidelines
- Monitor food temperatures and quality throughout the cooking process
- Plate meals according to recipes and presentation standards
- Ensure kitchen is properly stocked with necessary items
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment preferred
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Must be able to follow instructions and adhere to food safety guidelines
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Able to lift up to 50 kilos
