Job Objective:
Contribute to the success of the manufacturing business by exercising control over engineering processes, developing precision tooling design, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to ensure profitable growth. Responsibilities include establishing casting metallurgy, conducting process reviews, overseeing various engineering processes, and conducting cost analyses related to investment casting. Additionally, the role involves spearheading new production development, leading cost reduction initiatives, and implementing automation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support casting costing and review technical and quality specifications.
- Lead the development of investment casting parts, process enhancement, and scrap reduction.
- Enhance casting defect levels for both existing and new products.
- Assist in the implementation of automation in manufacturing and casting simulation software for designing gating systems.
- Supervise all casting process operations, ensuring the production of sound casting parts, covering various stages such as wax tooling, patterns injection, ceramic shell production, dewaxing, firing, pouring, finishing, and special heat treatment, NDT, surface treatment, and machining.
- Identify, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and productivity improvement projects within investment casting operations to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall quality.
- Understand casting metallurgy, gating systems, and process parameters to oversee processes and maintain optimization of the production line.
- Ensure the manufacturing of final investment casting parts meets aerospace quality standards.
- Provide technical reviews for tooling design and the use of SolidCAM in precision machining.
- Establish industry 4.0 automation robotic processes, including project planning, cost budgeting, ROI review, resource allocation, technical review, and timeline management.
- Train and mentor engineers, fostering career development and instilling a sense of urgency in engineering activities for the manufacturing business.
- Drive sustainability projects to implement energy savings, cultivate a culture of lean, and reduce industry waste.
- Prepare engineering review presentations for reporting to senior management.
- Collaborate closely with HODs to plan, coordinate, and execute manufacturing projects related to investment casting and precision wax tooling design.
- Liaise with other departments, including production, quality, and process planning, to ensure smooth operations and effective problem-solving.
- Perform other duties as directed by senior management.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Hold a degree in Materials Science or Casting Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent.
- Possess significant engineering experience in investment casting.
- Familiarity with aerospace material investment casting techniques is essential.
- Preferred familiarity with casting metallurgy, non-destructive testing, and heat treatment processes.
- Experience in managing people and conducting cost analysis is preferred.
Technical Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-organized for liaising with customers for technical product reviews.
- Proficiency in SAP, GD&T, Solidworks, SolidCAM, AutoCAD, MasterCAD is advantageous.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both verbal and written) in English.
