About the role
We're on the lookout for a Treasury Risk Focal Professional to join our dynamic Commercial Treasury team based in Singapore. As a crucial support role reporting to the Manager, Commercial Treasury Business Partners, this position offers an engaging and intellectually stimulating environment.
Your responsibilities will involve identifying, analyzing, and mitigating financial risks, tracking treasury approvals, leveraging programming skills (Python), and data analytics, and driving business improvement activities by challenging the status quo.

Reporting to the Manager of Commercial Treasury, you will be:
Primary focus on driving risk management activities & related reporting and understanding how the business works:
- Coordination of key risks and controls reporting for Commercial Treasury.
- Tracking of bimonthly approvals by Treasury policy, standards, and procedures.
- Preparing & coordinating submissions for various quarterly risk forums (FRMC and FRAC).
- Any other ancillary Risk Focal reporting and & governance matters.
Rotate with another Treasury Reporting Professional to prepare treasury reports using Power BI, including but not limited to the following:
- Daily Cash Forecast.
- Investment Performance Report.
- Weekly Credit Report.
- Weekly Summary Dashboard.
- Quarterly Facility Pricing Grid and Leasing Grid.
- Bank Relationship overview.
- FX Hedging report.
Part of the wider analyst pool to support
- RT’s digital transformation journey and any Commercial Services & Digital initiatives.
- Treasury System (Quantum).
- Commercial Treasury Business Partners who are Treasury advisors to Rio Tinto product groups, commercial functions, strategic business entities, and Finance Business Partners.
Support Commercial Treasury Business Partners in project management that requires cross-group collaboration, distilling complex concepts into clear components, and developing views and recommendations.
Have an appreciation of other key Treasury activities undertaken by the wider Treasury group and support these activities as required.
Business Process Improvement mindset to simplify risk management process and look for areas to automate treasury reporting, and ability to operationalize the improvements by driving collaboration with various stakeholders as required.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, IT, Computer Science or equivalent
- At least 2 years of commercial, finance, and/or treasury experience in a large multinational with previous experience working with or on commercial, finance, and/or treasury-related issues.
- Willingness to self-learn & pick up programming skills (Python).
- Strong digital and/or data analytics skills, ability to distill large information sources into actionable and meaningful reports for senior management.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently in a fluid and sometimes ambiguous environment; capable of adjusting to both day-to-day and large-scale activities based on new information and developments.
- Effective team player with the ability to meet or self-manage deadlines while working on multiple projects.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Direct relevant experience in corporate treasury and or internal Rio Tinto commercial, treasury, or finance experience
- Python programming skills to make changes to current treasury reports.
- Ability to understand business requirements from a commercial perspective, get into the details of data provided and translate to solutions, displays analytical rigor and structured thought process that can be articulated to both internal and external audiences.
