The Role
Reporting to Head of Data Management Office, you will interact with Data Management Office members and Tokyo Head Office Data Management Department members for driving the development, implementation, standardization and continuous enhancement of the Data Governance operational activities across SMBC APAC, including Data Analytics and Data Utilization. You will work with stakeholders across the bank to drive strategic and effective data utilization and ensure that data is managed in a secure, compliant and ethical manner.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up and build a team in the Data Governance Office to oversee and drive Data Analytics and Data Utilization in the APAC region.
- Data Utilization Planning and Promotion: Integrate data into business strategies and drive data utilization.
- Data Culture Promotion: Convey the importance of data within the bank and foster a data governance culture.
- Training and Education: Develop and conduct training programs on Data Governance and data management.
- Data Quality Monitoring: Identify and report data quality issues, resolve issues at operational level and promote improvements.
- Master Data & Metadata Management: Organize and manage master data and metadata to ensure data consistency.
- Operational Data Management: Work with IT and business units to ensure smooth data flows and proper integration.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- 7-10 years of experience Data Governance in the banking sector or bank related project experience
- Good understanding of data-related technologies e.g., Database, ETL, Data Warehousing and metadata etc.
- Good understanding and experience of data utilization and related tools e.g., BI/MIS Tools, Python, AI
- Proficiency in both English and Japanese is highly preferred as this role needs to prepare reports in Japanese for reporting to Head Office in Japan. This role also needs to present and communicate with stakeholders and counterparts in Tokyo Head Office who mainly communicate in Japanese.
- Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skill
- Good project management and facilitation skills
- Basic understanding and knowledge of Data Governance and Data Management framework and philosophies as defined in the DMBOK (Data Management Body of Knowledge).
