Job Scope:
- Collaborate with clients’ project teams to and lead the FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) architectural efforts for all cloud migration projects from a quality (not sales) viewpoint.
- Collaborate with the architect team and refine Standards, Patterns, building blocks for consumption by project teams based on FMEA best practise and investigation findings.
- Ensure Standards and policy requirements are mapped to the solution building blocks for traceability purposes.
- Collaborate with project teams in tandem with vendor architects and assess the solution’s resiliency and compliance with all policies and procedures with an eye to prevent problems before they occur.
- Perform Solution review, including Resiliency, Security, Supportability, technical failure, and solution feasibility assessments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams from an FMEA standpoint.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges, proactively addressing them in the aforementioned Standard approaches and Patterns.
- Remain up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluate their potential impact on clients’ solution architectures, and present findings with recommended ways forward.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computing Science or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in IT operations or IT Consulting domain
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in an Architect role including designing, building, and maintaining complex, cloud-based solutions for mission critical systems.
- Analyse and refine Standards, Patterns, Building Blocks, best practises, guidelines, technical specifications looking proactively for, and engineering solutions, which avoid discovered failures prior to occurrence.
- Proven success in leading/guiding small teams who are not your direct reports, to analyse solution architectures, standards, patterns and solutions, and shift failure mode effects analysis left in the process.
- Complete understanding of the principles and rationale behind Enterprise Architecture
- Ability to predict, discover, document, and prevent technical problems (e.g., SLA breaches) before they occur (Analogous to fire prevention, not firefighting)
- Ability to collaborate with external vendors and drive the resiliency of the system’s architectures using pre-defined building blocks that you influence.
- Knowledge of configuration management systems (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Excellence with AWS Cloud and a proven track of working and configuring major AWS PaaS/IaaS services.
- Excellence in performing FMEA and RCA and ability to explain prior successes.
Useful but not required:
- AWS Solutions Architect certification
- Working experience with other Public Clouds (Azure or GCP)
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, Containers, Lambda, DynamoDB, EC2, Fargate, S3, SQS
- Demonstrated scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or Shell)
- Microsoft Server OS and related technologies: Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, and Active Directory
- Deploying, monitoring and administration of SQL/NoSQL Database Engines
- Experience in conducting pre-sales and/or executive level presentations or workshops.
- Designing CI/CD DevSecOps pipelines (e.g., AWS Developer Tools, GitLab, Jenkins)
- Ability to collaborate closely with sales and delivery teams to provide pre-sales support.
